Coffee, Trading and You

  1. I'm gratified that you view my poll as brilliant. For the most part, the poll has resolved my curiosity about members' views regarding the subject matter. However, I never expected the added bonus of validation and affirmation. Much obliged. :)

  3. I think its only a detriment if you get a bit over wired. Combined with the high that a position creates anyway, I think it can lead to brain lock if over done.

Personally. I have one or two cups each day, then switch to decaf.

  6. Evidently, a sufficient number of people drink coffee while trading. That being the case, I certainly hope you are making it worth your while with an appropriate choice of beans. While my staple is a blend of half light and half dark Moka Java beans, the best coffee I have tasted by far is a 50/50 blend of Ethiopian Limu and Sumatra Mandheling. If you drink filtered coffee, I suggest a #4 grind. Although there are far more expensive beans, such as the much-touted Jamaican Blue Mountain, I personally do not find them to be more satisfying.

    You're welcome. :D

    I like coffee.

In fact, I'm somewhat of a coffee connoisseur. I'm picky bout my coffee. Starbucks coffee is pure crap. Dunkin Donuts coffee is good, but not the ones in the city, they are crap as well.

The best NYC commercial coffee, IMO, is from those street guys. For the price and the smoothness, that's the bomb.

But overall, I make the best coffee for myself. I keep my beans fresh so they never lose flavor. The one I'm really liking right now is Mocha Yemen, great stuff, very flavorful and very smooth. It's da bomb.

So what does this have to do with trading? Oh yeah, the office coffee sucks, but it does the job.

I heard some european banks discouraged their traders from drinking coffee since they found the more coffee they consumed the more they were involved in gazing at porn on company time. Coffee supposedly makes one horney !!
