CNN sues President Trump and top White House aides for barring Jim Acosta

  1. The leftwing media have been whining for months that Trump is exposing them to grave danger by challenging their objectivity. When a journalist, Tucker Carlson, actually had his house attacked by an antifa mob as his wife was there alone, they were silent as church mice, except to suggest that he deserved it.

  2. Trump should just declare that he will not be holding the daily briefing until after January 1. But that copies of news releases will be available at that time. And that after the first of the year, they will meet as appropriate.

He should also respond to the court filing by notifying the court that plaintiff has not at any time requested a meeting between CNN attorneys and white house counsel to discuss a mediated settlement, and that plaintiffs aggressive actions in immediately filing with the court is just another example of grandstanding rather than attempting to find solutions.

I repeat. The court has no power to order the president to hold daily briefings. If plaintiff seeks equal treatment and the court orders such, then just cancel the daily briefings - that way they all end out being treated equally. Plus all the other "journalists" start exerting peer pressure on him to find a way to accommodate the rest of them. You know most of them are used to having their mom watch them on tv everyday or see them in the audience and if you take that away, they got nothing.

I assume that CNN filed in DC based on jurisdiction. So trump has some advantages to dragging this first filing out and maybe letting it come up again later if needed and Acosta does not behave himself. Kanavaugh was on the appeals court in DC and moved up, so that opened Kavanaugh's position on the appellate court there. However, Trump just appointed Kavanaughs replacement on that court but she has not been confirmed yet. So let her get confirmed. Give Acosta another chance to behave himself, then the next time you shut him off and he goes to court she will be on the bench, which could be handy. Let CNN worry about it at that point.

Once again, because of polarized politics, those who hate Trump no matter what he does think CNN has a case here and a strong one, or that Trump is suppressing Freedom of Speech, etc.

Those who love Trump no matter what he does see Acosta getting what he deserved for "laying a hand" on an overpaid intern.

Those of us with some common sense still left in our head see a superfluous lawsuit designed by a financially troubled news organization with desire to keep its name in the public spotlight all because its reporter responded in a defiant and juvenile way to a President who has a personal bone to pick with said news agency and therefore treats any question of challenge from them as an attack on the gates, throwing red meat to his base by arrogantly responding with childish and bullying tactics.

In other words, both parties behaved poorly and this is an incredible waste of time and a diversion to real world problems.

  6. I think that when you have an idiot in the White House, the proper thing for respectable journalists to do is to report it to the American people. When the president says or does stupid shit, a responsible journalist will doggedly report it. That CNN is doing it every day only goes to show you the frequency with which Trump does and says stupid shit.
