Why am I not surprised that "progressives" are championing censorship and thought control? Of course, they regard these reactions as mild because they also support actual physical violence against right wingers. The fact that the leadership of CNN did not anticipate the reaction of the twitterverse speaks volumes about their competency. You have to wonder why AT&T would want any part of this cesspool.
What censorship? Get a grip. It's all about action - reaction. Don't want the reaction? Don't take the action.
This wasn't about liberalism or conservatism. The guy is a trolling and bigoted asshole who just happened to attract the interest of CNN with his "funny" video and his targeting of CNN employees with antisemitic postings. It's really all the same to you, isn't it?
Knowing that CNN is not competent enough itself to actually go to Reddit and track down this person's bio info and previous posts. The question becomes who did CNN pay to do this?
No, its not all the same thing, thats the whole point im trying to make, the point you seem to keep missing. This weekend i went golfing and fishing with a few other guys, during the weekend we made lots of jokes about each others golf shots, or each others casts while we were fishing, something along the lines of "You like to put from the rough" if someone was putting from the rough. ( a question on each others manliness/sexuality) Thats the kind of joke i would feel perfectly comfortable making among friends, questioning another guys manliness, or straightness is not something new when a bunch of dudes get together. I know these guys arent gay, sorry to say but thats how guys act with each other. If you walked into a hockey room, or any liberal newscaster walked into a hockey dressing room, you would think everyone was a homophobe. The truth is over time i learned to bite my tongue with a comment like that, we used to all call each other faggots, but that was also a term of endearment, as much as an insult back then, i would call someone and be like "Whats up you faggot" or someone would call me and say the same kind of thing. I learned later in life, by having a few people i played hockey with coming out as homosexuals how that was not right, so should my whole life be ruined because i was conforming to what every single person talked like playing hockey growing up? My own friends who are homosexuals dont seem to think im a homophobe, but im pretty sure if everything i ever said was posted to millions of people id never find a job again. Do you think thats right? Have you never questioned a guys manliness when your among friends, and you know that no one you are with is gay? We have also made lots of jokes about each others ethnicities, you dirty wop, i always get called a nazi cause im german, etc, etc, but its all in good fun, context is everything. Ive had friends joke about me being a fat fuck and ive joked about them being a skinny bastard, the point is we all know each other and we are willing to make those kinds of jokes about each other, its funny, cause its soo offside, thats what makes the joke. You are acting incredibly disingenous here dude.
Here is just a couple examples where bigotry is funny, but could ruin someones career, the humor is not in the racism, the humor is in mocking the bigoted behavior, and mocking society, the best way you can take power out of the hands of a bigot is by mocking them, all of these sketches would be considered over the top in 2017, and these kinds of sketches are the best thing you can do to take the power out of bigoted words. Russell Peters is another example, a canadian, his entire show is based on racial stereotypes, but also mocking racists, so he gets a crowd of every diffrerent race together where everyone can laugh at themselves, how could you better remove the power from stereotypes then bringing every race together to laugh at themselves? Liberals want to black list people who make jokes like this, but all that does is add power to what the actual bigots are doing. Infact CNN was actually the one who blew the first skit by southpark up. In southpark, Cartman is an offensive asshole who is always calling Kyle a Jew, and making all kinds of offensive statements about Kyle, what makes it funny is not the jew jokes, its that Cartman is such an offside offensive asshole, everyone strives to not be Cartman. The problem is that liberals desperately want to sell the idea that there is full blooded racists sitting around every corner, when it simply isnt reality, i cant think of a single person i ever met growing up who was a legitimate bigot (Im only 33) Im sure there is people out there, and im sure its more prevalent with older people, but the best way to eliminate this kind of behaviour is by mocking it, some people get that fact, some people dont.
Only if showering with a room full of dudes more than a hundred times a year somehow makes you gay, other than that its the epitome of straightness.
