He was painted a racist by multiple sources when he had nothing to do with Trump's decision to tweet. If you don't think that has potential professional consequences or don't think one of these antifa nut jobs could harm the guy or don't think the PC online army could make the guy's life a nightmare, I don't know what to tell you. If you've never said anything inappropriate among friends with an expectation of secrecy then you're the first person I've heard of doing so. CNN dropped the ball here plain and simple, this doesn't have to be about politics.
I think racists should be outed as a matter of course. If they don't want to be outed then they should keep their filth to themselves. If they are ashamed of their racism then maybe they could use a bit of introspection. Bigotry is corrosive. Rust begets rust. Got to nip it in the bud. And he should have known he was playing with fire using a Trump video.
From the Washington Post: "CNN elected to spare him public ridicule — but not the lingering possibility that his name could be published in the future. By straddling the fence, granting clemency with conditions, the network invited criticism from both sides." CNN pisses off everyone, even the left.
No, I like what they did. Consider that the video was not an isolated incident: "CNN said on Tuesday that it had found and spoken to the Reddit user, who had apologized for creating the video and other posts that were racist and anti-Semitic, including one that added Jewish stars to photos of CNN personalities..." He doesn't deserve a free pass.
The video was not racist. You want to out this guy just because you don't like his comments previous to the posting of this video? Really? You don't think that is oppression of free speech? You don't think that opens up a whole can of worms when one side or the other can openly target people with whom they disagree for potential violent retaliation? You're okay with the very connected and heavy hand of the media can put a target on a persons back simply because that person made fun of them? Com'on Fred, lets not go full tilt crazy.
I didn't say it was. I was commenting on his posting history, which was uncovered and speaks for itself.
Exactly, what does it even matter who created the meme? CNN has totally gone overboard here, the reason they want it to matter is cause they want to link Trump to racism, even if Trump had no clue who it originally came from, this behaviour from CNN on this one is apalling in every single direction, first they throw a hissy fit, then they threaten to ruin a guys life if he doesnt conform, then they spin it as no big deal. Ill be the first to admit that while i found the tweet hilarious it wasnt presidential, but it made CNN look alot dumber than Trump on this one.
