Actually the problem here with CNN is that they are holding over the guys head that CNN will expose his real name unless he alters his on-line behavior. That is the basic definition of blackmail.

Either CNN should expose his name as part of their "investigative reporting" or decide not to. Making a public statement that they will expose the guys name or not based on his future on-line behavior is completely outside the confines of proper journalism.

I expect that someone at CNN will be fired for this serious blunder.

Are you denying that previous presidents derided the media in the same way Trump does simply using different mediums than Twitter?

Are you denying that previous 'sitting presidents made "official statements" deriding the Fourth Estate'?

I expect we will only have to wait 48 hours or so to see who CNN shiat-cans for this blunder.

  5. Don't know. But I'm guessing that the monied interests at the time were not fond of FDR's agenda and it was reflected in the media they influenced. Regardless:

    This is a litmus test.
If you are defending CNN on this one... your values as a citizen are truly a mess. You need help and you should seek it immediately. There is no other rational conclusion.

Yes, going after. You're delusional if you don't think offensive trolling doesn't have real life repercussions, that's why people use an anonymous handle because it's impossible to defend context and dark humor. He's posting this on a small platform meant to be shared among like minded peers. I doubt he wanted the national spotlight.

For getting so butt hurt over freedom of speech, they sure are doing a good job suppressing someone else's by threatening they're anonymity

  8. "Threatening their anonymity?" It's only a perceived threat if the person is embarrassed by what he posted and doesn't want to be associated with the content. You want freedom without any accountability?

The "funny" fed into a stupid, corrosive and ongoing narrative. The subject of that "funny" responded. So now CNN is not "free" to respond? Are you now the arbiter of freedom? Where does the freedom end? When it's no longer fun for the troll?

  10. Exactly.

    From your own link above:

"CNN said on Tuesday that it had found and spoken to the Reddit user, who had apologized for creating the video and other posts that were racist and anti-Semitic, including one that added Jewish stars to photos of CNN personalities..."
