The last 6 months all I have heard is:

The market is at 4 month highs
The market is at 4 month lows
    The market is roaring ahead
    The market is tanking
The bulls are in firm control
The bears are in full control

seriously if it weren't for the boredom of trading would anyone watch it anymore ?

On the positive side at least they have hired some pretty fine looking ladies lately. :D

  2. There are many reasons why the market may go up on any particular day. There are also many reasons why the market may go down on any particular day. Once the market has made its move, the best few reasons for that directional move will be written on the headlines. Perhaps an analyst or two with experience in the data underlying those particular reasons will also be brought in to make it look more official.

The bottom line is they do not know why the market moved. But the above will let them give the illusion of knowledge. That will keep many viewers, which will keep most advertisers. At the end of the day, they are happy because they made money on advertising. They do not need to know why the market has done what it did. They do not honestly care.

  3. All from the mouth of Bob Piss-on-me? The guy is famous for pointing out the obvious.

When Maria blurts out some previously unmentioned Bernanke-speak, you care if you heard it and got on the right side of it or if you missed it and were stuck on the wrong side thinking to yourself "WTF?"
