I have found alot of times they are late with the news....especially when earnings are released.By time they tell you about it it's too late.
in the old days on FNN the tape really meant something. You could place an order and see it go by. Now it is about worthless. I have sent them many emails complaining about that stupid "Real TIme CNBC" logo that expands and contracts constantly on the bottom right side of the screen in front of the tape. If the logo is so important, why don't they put it in front of Joe's head? I don't know what the tape is going to say and occasionally I am trying to read it. I already know what Joe looks like, and if you haven't seen it you aint missing anything.
a little off topic, but this one cracked me up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KNpn-XGM04&feature=endscreen&NR=1
I remember about 10 years ago when you could watch the tape on FNN and you didnt need any knowledge of trading whatsoever, all you had to do was jump in the stock that was going by more than any other and you would make money for sure. You could tell a break out by their tape....now they must filter it because you dont see that anymore on CNBC.
no kidding, and there were many books on reading the tape. The tape was uniform, if you had a ticker tape machine everybody got the same tape. Of course, it was only NYSE. but it showed the symbol the price and the size. And in a fast market people would evaluate the seriousness of the situation by how far the tape was behind. I don't know, I suppose there is a digital tape out there somewhere, I don't know
I moved some text from two posts here to the microsoft notebook, then printed them out. Then I trimmed & taped those two posts on a piece of paper and photographed them... ElectricHersheyStylin'Savant
