The CME wants to remove any transparency. A unique customer identifier allows the HFTs to gain a far greater advantage. With a unique I.D. they can learn a lot about each trader: how & what & when they trade, their pain threshold, their typical size, etc. The CME is run by a bunch of crooks.

This is a letter sent to chairman of the CME by the national cattleman's beef association.

The unique ids to which posters have referred are exchange order id and priority id. These ids are order specific and do not identify the sender of the order to the public.

In our experience we found that identifying the behavior of a particular trader can be made by the quantity and time of an order if such trader places his orders around the same time each day with the same non-regular quantities (non regular quantity means 123 or 777 or something like that but not 100, 200, 1, 2, 5 or quantities that many others use). Making such identification is not dependent upon exchange order ids or priority ids.

Are you sure? Since when? I submit a lot of icebergs and never noticed it. I guess I would have had a lot of trade-throughs if my icebergs were simulated by my front end.

I stand corrected. According to the spec our developers use, ice bergs are supported for all contracts except FX futures, FX options and CME interest rate options.

Comagnum; but i have to disagree with 50% of that. Since when have the Chicago hog markets had a good rep LOL?? Frankly=never, that i know about.
T Bone Pickens lost a lot in the Chicago cattle market; finally left it alone, even though i think he did well cash cattle markets ??. He lost his mostly public nat gas co, mostly due to leverage, also after many, many years. But he made up for it, big time real well , oil wells, + gas + oil trends. Thanks for the link.
