Just so you know... I can appreciate the gravity of your situation last night. If I was doing what you were doing, I'd probably be raising all kinds of hell. Glad it worked out ok.
When there is data , trading platform ... problem, don't panic. simply call the broker, and flatten your position. Then power down your computer and go do other thing other than trading. no point getting angry frustrated mad. Learn to live with such problems. because it will happen every few weeks/months. don't be in the hurry to understand the root cause. Also don't attempt to call the help desk. Because millions of people will be calling the help desk. and the help desk will be totally overwhelmed. Give the help desk staff a chance to breathe.
Interesting that everyone want you to calm down. Ignore that. Keep the passion and drive. That is what makes trading fun...that ....and making money! Enjoy the ride.
Typically all of the above works. Last night it would not. CME itself went down. Brokers could not do anything. This happens extremely rare. I personally have not witnessed such long CME outage ever.
Not sure who people are trying to calm down, but anyone concerned about a data outage is wildly overextended-----period.
This was not data outage. The whole Globex was out. Trying to learn what is happening and panicking are 2 quite different things.
