Has anyone noticed CME membership seats (IOM) have soared in the last few months? They were trading as low as $16,000 just 2-3 months ago. It just traded at $55,500 today. Might be a good trade for the next few years to come with the increased volatility.

It is a commodity, like any other. A few years ago, a Boston Taxi Medallion was going for about 250K. Recently it fell to like 3K because of the pandemic and Uber/Lyft stuff.

The price is rising again. Probably back up closer to 50K now.

Interesting that seat leases are lower. I remember in December when the IOM was about $25K the seat leases were about $300 to $350 per month. The last few leases were $250/month.

I bought memberships in 2009 when stock market tanked, it is like any other trading instrument. Why anyone keeps them to lease out don't make sense to me, as rent is so cheap, do better with real estate.
