They are not discussing moving their data centers. Do you have any idea how many prop firms there are in Chicago? Who do think generates all the revenues for the CME? Hint: it's not one lot scalpers on ET.
that the CME managed to build a massive 500,000 sf HFT data center right at the worst possible time. same with NYX. They havent figured it out yet that you need to have new suckers to make the strategy work or you eat each other to death. The facilities they are putting in are really expensive.
Ummm... Chicago prop firms trade a big percentage of Eurex and Liffe. Lots of Chicago HFT firms trading equities as well. I don't see ECN as being an issue IMO.
Miami Mercantile Exchange. It's gotta a nice ring to it. Adios CME. Chicago will soon become the next Detroit as businesses flock in droves. Boeing is looking to flap their wings as well.
Yes but the point I'm making is that I've read all the press on this and the exchange is not moving. Only possibly the executive offices. There are at least 20 press releases stating this. I'm just trying to keep this thread factual.
There just looking for a tax break. but how much longer the CME can run a HFT model which I think is really short sighted remains to be seen
I think the point is FU to Illinois in terms of where the corporate office (the tax revenue center) is located.
