most likely CME will also include options on Bitcoin in future. so we can trade vertical spread, calender spread, diagonal spread, credit spread, debit spread. so whether Bitcoin very bullish/bearish, slightly bullish/bearish, or not moving, we can earn $.
So you should be more excited than anyone about these futures being offered, right? They are giving you the option to enter a trade you can't lose on, why all the negativity?
No moat. Other than the fetish of first mover, what edge does #btc have? Crowd can persist in their madness for long period. Proof of CONcept: Flat earth Obama's two terms
Then it seems like it might be better to trade bitcoin with futures. You don't have to deal with bitcoin wallets being hacked, Coinbase accounts being hacked, bitcoin exchanges getting hacked, etc.
Good point, but with the futures you will miss out on the fork dividends. That is an extra 5-15% in every quarter or so.
This is a very interesting point you raise Pekelo. If the CME contract's delivery specification is not adjusted for fork "dividends", then maybe the futures will permanently trade at a discount to (physical) Bitcoin, to reflect the potential for future forks. .
Please help me understand why bitcoin forks? Also, since bitcoin is suppose to be un regulated who decided to fork it?

Most likely bitcoin futures is going to be extremely violent, volatile, jerky, messy, with lots of whipsaw, very wide bid offer spread, super wide day range. but the opportunity is going to be great. it is going to be much tougher and difficult to trade than Natural gas in 2014, hangseng, heating oil and RB gasoline. Better start practising trading hangseng, HO and RB gasoline futures to prepare for the coming Bitcoin futures.
