    I guess you were still in diapers when everything was quoted in fractions, even stocks. Those were the good ol' days. :)

    When I was trading stocks, I think it was 1/8 for stocks over $20 and 1/16 for those under. Anyway, useless info.

    High priced, thinly traded stock were usually bid/ask in whole numbers. And odd lots, although in place, didn't show up on the ladder. So I liked to bid 102 1/8 for 99 shares in the showing bid was 102 for full lots. Worked fine, until that time when Sonic Foundry(once SFO, then SOFO) announced a 4:1 split at 120. Priced immediately popped $10 at open the next morning, and I bought 99 shares at 130 1/8. After a while, I thought "Well, OK, it'll come back tomorrow morning" It NEVER came back. Best of my memory, it fell to 100 before that day was over, but it may(possibly) have taken a couple days. Ahh, the good old days.......
