And as we know from your peak poop thread, Trump is going to tell to peak oil not to exist, and voila, the Earth is going to sweat out more oil. And we gonna call the Donald The Messiah.... :)

  3. I don't know what our leverage might be.

There's a plan already in place that IF we decrease our oil imports the US will compensate OPEC.

  4. There is no plan in place. Bush and the Saudis had a nudge nudge wink wink agreement, but America has nothing official.

So for Trump to flap his gums about taking the oil, without agreement, is essentially rationalizing theft.

The only leverage we need is a legitimate push toward energy independence.

That will lower the price of oil in a heartbeat.

...and all it would take would be the stroke of a pen by Obama...

Trump is a fool, appealing to the base of fools who want to blame OPEC for our oil addiction.

Obama is a bag man for big oil, waiting for the go ahead from big oil as soon as they secure the rights to the massive natural gas fields in America...Obama could have demanded GM produce a natural gas car (much more realistic than an electric car at the moment)...but Obama has done nothing.

The left wingers think that if oil goes to $200.00 and gas to $6 to $8 bucks it will be good for America because then the "free market" will kick in and produce alternative energy at a competitive price.

Foolish, it can be done today.

It is no secret where big oil is betting, but the common man doesn't see what is happening, and big oil has not yet gotten full control of natural gas...but they are trying.

Well, that was missreported, and was discovered AFTER the invasion. They usually need an economic incentive BEFORE the action takes place. It was about gaspipes, not lithium....

  6. So we have no good reason to be dependent on the whims of OPEC...yet you want to blame OPEC?
Indeed, we have no reason to be dependent on the whips of OPEC...but we are... In no way shape or form does that excuse the OPEC collusions, extortions, lies, price gouging, blackmails... Your attempt to blame the west for the criminal/immoral/disgusting acts of OPEC is noted though.

  7. We have no good reason, because we have no good reason to be dependent on OPEC.

30 years after the oil embargo, and we have done nothing to free ourselves from the dependency on oil from that shit hole area of the world.

We are to blame for that, not OPEC.

You don't blame the snake for biting you when you know it is a snake...and we learned 30+ years ago that OPEC is a bunch of snakes.

    The solution is energy independence.

That could happen in a very short time, if we all decided to make it happen together.

  8. We are to blame for that, not OPEC.
We are to blame for what we've done wrong, they are to blame for what they are doing wrong (price gouging etc).

You don't blame the snake for biting you when you know it is a snake
Yep, you just cut its head off. And that's what Trump is proposing.

The solution is energy independence. That could happen in a very short time, if we all decided to make it happen together.
But until it happens we might still cut the snake's head off, we'll have more cash left to actually invest in energy independence and there'll be one less disgusting snake in the world.

  9. why are high grain prices, a commodity the us exports, good and high oil prices,a commodity the middle east exports, bad?

  10. We are to blame for that, not OPEC.
We are to blame for what we've done wrong, they are to blame for what they are doing wrong (price gouging etc).

The best way to kill a snake is to remove its food source.

We focus on something positive, i.e. energy independence. The rest takes care of itself. Focusing on trying to control the snake is stupidity.

You don't blame the snake for biting you when you know it is a snake
Yep, you just cut its head off. And that's what Trump is proposing.

Trump can't cut off OPEC's head. He has no leverage. The only real leverage is to become energy independent. All focus and energy in that direction solves the problem. OPEC is a symptom, not the cause. We are the cause of our own problem, because we did not take steps 30+ years ago to become fully self sufficient.

The solution is energy independence. That could happen in a very short time, if we all decided to make it happen together.
But until it happens we might still cut the snake's head off, we'll have more cash left to actually invest in energy independence and there'll be one less disgusting snake in the world.

No, we put 100% of our attention on the real solution to the real problem. OPEC is not the real problem, so wasting time with OPEC is not the real solution.

Every time we avoid a problem, the more the problem grows.

    1. Remove all troops from the middle east, period.
    2. Mandate solar and natural gas for all government building and vehicles.
    3. Open unlimited drilling of oil for 3 years.
    4. Put the troops who come home on our borders to secure, convert weapons production to the conversion of automobiles to natural gas.

OPEC, who gives a shit when we don't need them.

I say to hell with the entire middle east, let them nuke themselves.

If we didn't need OPEC, we wouldn't care about them...so the goal and the number one focus and all our energy needs to be diverted to not needing OPEC.

Israel? Stop funding them, they can take care of themselves. If they want to live in that shit hole part of the world, that's their fault, not ours.
