I will take a look at it and offer my humble $0.015 (my thoughts trade through a prop so I can get less than two cents per thought )
It seems all right depending on what sort of exposure you're looking for. It's pretty heavy into commercial real estate, which personally, I'm at full exposure right now. The management fees look very good at around 1%. The trend is certainly in the right direction, although yesterday's pullback is not even a blip on the radar really. 7% is a good number. Although 30+% leverage makes me a little cautious. You might also want to check out JDD. It's trading at a discount to a steady to rising NAV. It also has exposure to real estate (although not quite as much). Management fees are higher, return is a bit better. Not sure if it's leveraged or not. My 0.02 (I have to pay full retail)
JDD was the one I suggested, which one are you recomending? You typed JDD where you were thinking of another cef. Curious which one.
Sadly it is Tuesday, so I have no excuse at all. I think maybe too many D's confuse me. JDD, DDF. I chase shiny objects too. Curious to know what you think.
Here's something that's puzzling me a bit. I've been sliding into my CEFs as discussed previously. The first that looked good to me from a timing perspective was TIP. I imagine this was sometime in mid-January. Today I noticed from a chart on google that the monthly dividend hasn't been paid since November and I also see on some message boards that folks are complaining that they haven't seen the dividend either. I went to the Lehman web site and grabbed a prospectus and it says the divs are paid monthly. I can't find any news related to a change in frequency. I guess I'm just curious to know what happened.
Yes, the distributions were $0 for dec and jan. By the way this happened also before. http://www.ishares.com/fund_info/distributions/detail.jhtml?symbol=TIP
