now back to the point... The Director of the CDC says those exposed to ebola should not be flying commercial. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2014/10/15/ebola-patient-traveled-day-before-diagnosis/ “Risk to that individual would have been extremely low,” says Dr. Tom Frieden, Director of the CDC. However, the passenger notification is needed due to the proximity in time between the flight and the first reported symptoms. “Those who have exposures to Ebola, she should not have traveled on a commercial airline,” said Dr. Frieden. “The CDC guidance in this setting outlines the need for controlled movement. That can include a charter plane; that can include a car; but it does not include public transport. We will from this moment forward ensure that no other individual who is being monitored for exposure undergoes travel in any way other than controlled movement.” Frieden specifically noted that the remaining 75 healthcare workers who treated Thomas Duncan at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital will not be allowed to fly. The CDC will work with local and state officials to accomplish this.[/quote]
Put him on Ignore. His uninformed drivel, most of it not based on facts, rather on some BS Salon of Huff Post cut & paste, is worthless. There are plenty of starving journalists who like nothing more than to do a blog or write a controversial piece and have readers get riled up about it. Sadly, he's one of the idiots who supports such unprofessional journalism.
DB is beginning to remind me of Dr. Frieden. No matter how tragically wrong and incompetent he is shown to be, Frieden plows on, drunk on smug arrogance and imagined moral superiority. At least DB only resorts to what he views as devastatingly clever questions. Frieden is out there lecturing people and mocking their concerns. The CDC has been behind the curve on this from the getgo. And to answer DB, yes, if they had a travel ban on Liberia, that guy would never have arrived here and never infected those nurses and who knows how many others. I'm still waiting to learn how he managed to get a visa, since ebola aside, he was clearly ineligible.
I have never put anyone on ignore software wise... but I will create a modified ignore for him. thanks.
And if he had flown anywhere at all outside the United States, what of all those passengers? Would they all be enjoined from entering the US?
this is an example of what what we have been warning about. now you are asking the questions that we wanted to avoid having to deal with. thoughtfully luckily 20 or more countires have already shut down travel from ebola regions. when you start off stupidly allowing travel from ebola regions... and someone travels with ebola... it becomes geometrically more difficult to contain the risk.
Any plane that flies with someone infected becomes an "ebola region". All countries to which those passengers individually travel becomes an "ebola region". Do you get it yet?
