Howdy, just stopping by to say hi.

I'm solely trading ES these days, but I look forward to making the journey back home soon. In the meantime, you might want to keep this chart handy.

Hi cst, what was your reason for going long at that specific price rather than waiting for an upside confirmation bar? I see it as a decent scalper's long entry on my 1-min chart, but on the 5-min chart price bumped it's head against the 20 EMA and sold off a bit, normally a short signal after that lower high and lower low were put in. (I'm looking at CL, which I assume is similar to QM).

I did not take that 12:45 or 12:50 bar as a short signal even though technically they were. I felt that the move up off the news was so strong that price was likely to test the 73.40 resistance zone.

When price failed to hit 73.30, I took the 1:10 and 1:15 bars as a short signal (lower high in a micro downtrend). I was short @ 73.13, stop @ .27, initial target 72.80. Price rapidly approached my target and I moved my target to .65 and prepared to tighten my stop as soon as .80 was taken out. Turned out .81 held up strongly as support and I bailed @ 73.10.

Catching CL's strong moves has been eluding me lately. I went to short earlier for a continuation move out of the range and price dropped out from under me without my order being lifted. I'm having a lot of trouble chasing entries when a survivable stop is then $300 away, but end up missing 70-80 tick moves at times :(
