When people have asked me how much money I made trading, I would often say, "30 000 dollars". Depending on if they asked or not, I would sometimes add, "But I lost 40 000 dollars".
#1 = you interpreted wrong. Edge over time and lots of trades is the message #2 - if you choose to educate yourself as I instructed by dissecting the "grinding it out" thread trade results, you will see at the end of year one that Lescor booked $600,000+ net profits. Is that reward enough for you in this daily grind, or can you do better in the outside world somewhere? #3 - your last sentence is a direct result of your first... you put yourself in a no-win, impossible situation. ** nodoji is correct: you are clinging to the same blind hope as too many other flailing traders, that somewhere out there are a savant few who simply kill it with sky-high win rates, large profit-to-loss ratios, no losing days, no stress, all rockstar lifestyle. I can tell you that for brief periods of time when volatility is high, and by that I mean VIX levels 30+ sustained, all of that above can be experienced for a little while. But no long-term careers are built on such short periods of sweet times. again, if you do as I suggested and invest your time in dissecting the thread suggested, it will take you much further in understanding the realities. If you dare. I have an idea you might not dare to analyze that data, because it will result in a shift of your thinking = hoping = feeling which you still cling to now. in any event, I wish you well for a successful future, same as I do everyone else. The only competition we have in this profession lies within ourselves. There's your only true adversary and struggle.
Thank you. Do you now mind saying how much money you earned from your trading in 2013? I'll start with myself: I made 30 000 dollars and lost 40 000 dollars.
Yes I mind... because in my case I would be unfairly judged. There is no possible answer I could give that would be received positively. The next several posts would be "is that CPA certified?" etc and we ain't going to go there. Validating income makes zero difference in anything I say or do, so what's the point? The general info I shared in here and elsewhere stands on its own. Whether I post blotters in P&L thread that end 2014 in six or seven figures, or red ink changes nothing at all about what's already said.
Of course it does. If I want to learn from someone, I want to learn from someone who not just talks, but can back what they're saying with real world results. If you're a net loser, why would I or anyone else want listen to your advice on how to trade successfully? If you're looking to get advice on losing fat and building muscle, who would you trust more? The guy who used to be fat and weak and is now ripped and strong? Or the fat guy sitting in his chair and typing, "Cut the carbs, bro."? Doesn't make sense that you can post selected P&L screen shots, but can not mention what you earned for the year as a total. Well, it makes sense if you're loser and earned 30 000 dollars just like me, but lost 40 000.
no it doesn't... not to you, not here By your admission you aren't actively trading. So why are you spending all this time and energy inside a trader's message board? Either you are working hard at improving your lot as a trader, or you are trying real hard to validate you current state as a struggling trader. I'm here for a brief time simply because I'm bored. It is cold and frozen outside. This has been the winter from hell that seemingly never would end. Finally next week, seasonal temps in the 50s and 60s are forecast. Fishing season opens next Tuesday, too. So in the mornings before work, rather than surfing the web to relieve boredom I'll be streamside and not inside here. That's why I'm here for now... personal entertainment. Now the stuff I posted across various threads is what I've learned to be true over long periods of time. You can either use that information to your own betterment or leave it and pass. Makes no difference to me, the facts remain as they are regardless. Not saying that to be crass... I simply don't care what you think or believe. As time rolls on and I continue to post consistently profitable blotters each week, you can think whatever you like about that too
Okay. Cool. Good luck on your trading. I don't really spend time on ET with this weekend being the exception, but I'll come back for those blotters.
