Thanks for the link but it's kinda pointless since I got stopped out already. I wonder if the same morons are behind this downdraft as past two nights. Dump-baby-dump followed by wham-bam-thank you-m'aam!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12766930 This is getting serious as shown in the markets evening open ---- 7:49p Japan's Nikkei Average futures down 5.2% on SGX ---- A map of radiation maximums in Japan, by prefecture http://blogs.marketwatch.com/disast...of-radiation-maximums-in-japan-by-prefecture/ ------ 16 March 2011 Last updated at 17:49 ET 1/ US Energy Secretary Steven Chu has said that the situation at the plant appears to be more serious than the partial meltdown at the Three Mile Island nuclear plant in Pennsylvania in 1979. 2/ Here, it is not the actual reactor that is causing concern. Instead, it is a pool storing fuel rods that had been taken out of the reactor when it was shut down for maintenance before the earthquake struck. There have been reports that water levels were low; and now the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), which has a team of experts advising in Japan, says the pool is completely dry. This means the fuel rods are exposed to the air. Without water, they will get much hotter, allowing radioactive material to escape - and the NRC says radiation levels are probably extremely high, creating a danger to workers at the plant. 3/ The company operating the plant has even warned of "re-criticality" - that a nuclear chain reaction could start among fuel rods in the now dry pool. That would not cause a nuclear explosion but it would increase the release of radioactive substances. 4/ The US state department has urged Americans living within 80km (50 miles) of Fukushima Daiichi, which lies 220km from Tokyo, to leave the area - a much wider exclusion zone than the 20km advised by the Japanese government. 5/ Britain has now advised its nationals currently in Tokyo and to the north of the capital to consider leaving the area. 6/ But helicopters deployed to dump water on the facility on Wednesday were pulled out amid concerns over radiation levels in the air above the site. 7/ Police units have been asked to bring in water cannons, normally used in riot control, to spray water on the fuel. 8/ "We believe that around the reactor site there are high levels of radiation," he said. "It would be very difficult for emergency workers to get near the reactors. The doses they could experience would potentially be lethal doses in a very short period of time."
Geezus, why don't these morons throw those fuel rods in a container and dump it into the deep ocean? That would bring down the temperature, no? Plus, even if something goes wrong, would that be any worse than the complete meltdown on land? I just don't see how all this could end on a happy note.
On the subject of Libya, it shouldn't be surprising how opportunistic American government is. In the aftermath of the Gulf War in the early 90s, our government pushed the Kurds in the north to revolt against Saddam Hussein giving them full assurance of our support. Well, what happened? Kurds got gassed to death. Nice. What happened in Libya. Although we didn't create the insurrection, our government gave the rebels a tacit agreement that it would support their cause. You see, it wasn't the Russians, the Chinese nor the Arab League who were the first to rise up to the occasion in their eagerness to act as cheerleaders. No, it was US with all its promises it failed to deliver. Now it's trying to shift the blame to, well, who else but Russians, Chinese and the Arab League? I say, don't make promises that you can't keep.
Sorry you got stopped out. It's tough trying to take any longer term trade without a tight stop as the next news cycle can cause major movement. And especially long positions right now seem susceptible.
I told my wife the market is out to get me and she laughed and said "they went through all that trouble for your 1 lot?" That even made me chuckle.
Yeah we did leave the poor Kurds hanging. This was G. Bush Sr. who told them, "We got your back." and then disappeared. And as far as Libya goes, no one really stepped in to help these folks. This wasn't another Egypt. An opportunity missed.
She may not realize they have you targeted for starting this thread. Maybe you shouldn't have posted your stop as they seem to have deliberately moved it just low enough to take it out. They must be reading the thread.
This is just between you and me (shhhhh), but I bought 2 lots at 97.08 and just sold at 97.72. How do you like that?
