CitiPoop down 8%, is paying off TARP good for financials?

  1. Has anyone seen press on the possible negatives of paying of TARP?

  2. "Good" news tends to appear at peaks, not bottoms.

Today's WSJ says that Citigroup is planning to issue more stock to help pay down the TARP, diluting the present shareholders.

  4. Yeah, but that same theory HELPED Bank of America stock when the news was released!

  5. It's just a rush to get away from the pay Czar. Honestly, it's a bit premature for some of these banks to be giving back that massive cushion of liquidity. Dilute, dilute, dilute!!! Another classic case of retail investors getting shafted. You know Citi waited until after the Arabs pulled their stake to do this...widows and orphans hold the bag, yet again.

  6. Big mistake. price makes news, not the other way around.
