My boss, an internal auditor, has that quote framed and hanging on the wall behind his desk. The Roman empire came to its demise several years later, so perhaps we have some time left.
Cicero is an interesting character. For all the humanism and realism in some of his writings, he also had people executed people without trial. When faced with his own version of McCarthyism, he didn't stand up to be counted, he folded and pled allegiance.
