Just curious to know when you take a break from trading over the holidays? Do you trade between Xmas and New Year and when do you return to the markets in January? Also are there any other periods in the year you don't trade and for what reason? Thanks
15Dec to 15Jan fundamental high timeframe (240mn/1d) trades only, same for 15Jul to 15Sep and a few weeks over Easter, but it's not by accident why we do that.
Yes for several reasons, sluggish and thin trade, time with family and friends and recharge batteries.
Why 2 month break in Jul/Aug? Any fundamental reason or your personal/schools off/ time off for vacation?
To gain more with less effort the simplest approach is to find the weakest link and exploit it. The traders, quants and management are either distracted or leave it to the juniors. It's always better to have people pay you for their mistakes, after all that's what the markets are all about. But don't try this at home, you don't have our analysis tools. There's a very good reason why made 20% return on capital in each of Jul/Aug/Sep, you can happily read everyone's belligerent responses over the past months because they didn't, and likely never will, understand how it can be done.
<rant mode on> Jeez.... I wish traders would learn that one of the biggest benefits they have over the institutional guys is TIME ! The institutional guys "have to" trade (for whatever reason). The non-pros don't "have to". You can afford to wait until the market displays an appropriate level of "sanity" amidst its usual irrational self. You really have to get out of the mindset that not having a trade on is not trading !!!!! Over-trading is a killer. Don't fall into the trap like so many before you. </rant mode off>
No break, I'm going to be looking at it if it is open anyways. Don't like to hold over Dec 31 but will if the price is right.
