confirmation bias when uttered by a leftist translates means the other guy always has the facts on his side. if you wish to the confirm that statement... take a look at this thread and see if the leftist has offered up any facts showing that Christians started the conflict with the Muslims.
There are no such "facts". What I said, repeatedly, was that the conflict was going on long before there were any Christians and has nothing to do with religion. You may put your fingers back in your ears now.
Of course you do...you have put your mental illness on full display with a new "chicken little" thread every single day for several years running...
All these conflicts encompass the era of the Roman Empire. Conflicts were started in North African regions, Egypt and Middle East territories against Arabs, Jews ,Greeks and others by the Roman Empire 100 years before any Christianity was invented, right through to 1200 CE when it can be said the Roman Empire eventually fell in the East. Around 350 CE the Roman Empire adopted Christianity as its state religion after the Constantinian shift. Around 600 CE Islam was invented. If Romans were christians then yes, for the record, christians certainly did start it. As dbp says, basically, it isn't really about religion. Although some people of religion would like it to become all about religion. As usual
So we are back to trying to ignore the many hundreds of attacks on others by Islam over a span eight centuries, and compare it to the 30 or so battles of the crusades..... and when this does not work then try to frame the entire situation in context of the Roman Empire... which has nothing to do with political Islam. While it is true that many rulers use religion to drive their agendas... one cannot ignore that Islam is very different than other religions because Islam directly supports attacks upon and forced conversions of non-believers as part of its core principles.
OK, I think I got it. Mohammed and the muslim conquests had nothing to do with religion. That's why muslims today will kill you for drawing him in a cartoon. This thread is funny but cautionary. The hard left actually is able to delude itself into believing this stuff. Then we get timid candidates like McCain and Romney who are afraid to call out an obama on his radicalism, and the next thing you know, we have a crazy man who hates everything our country stands for trying to destroy us.
You have to watch Stu's twisted logic. Stu said: "If Romans were christians then yes, for the record, christians certainly did start it." That "if" eats the whole point. For the record... the Roman Empire was not Christian when it reached its greatest extent in the 1st century. See the map below...
Below is a map showing the Roman Empire at its greatest extent. Which occurred during the 1st century. Prior to Rome becoming Christian. It should be clear to everyone Christian grew inside of the Roman empire not by the sword but in fear of it. Christians were persecuted for many of its first centuries. You are delusional if you argue that Christians started the crusading against muslims.
That is not the topic on which the dimwit who started this thread framed the whole thing or to which responses were made. That same dimwit is comparing crusades. A completely separate issue to the ridiculous proposal the thread topic makes. Besides that, you won't get any argument from me that islam is crap.
