Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

  1. Sounds like you were very disciplined today.:) trailing stops are hard but try to leg out of the trade and you may feel better because you take some profit at a set target amount while letting the other leg ride it out i.e. playing with the houses $$ without sacrificing the mega points while riding the trend.

  2. Wild ride for me today. Got stopped out of all my long EUR positions on the way down (do to the fairly sizable down move overnight/early morning), locking in a 7-figure loss. Was very depressed. Started rebuying aggressively (hadn't really intended to but liked the price action), before, during and after Greenie. Turned a 7-figure loss into a 7-figure gain by days end (and that's not including the decimal point!). I'm not trying to be boastful, I'm just expressing the magnitude of my wild ride. Even for me, this was major swings that added many grey hairs today. Currently holding full long position, hopefully, with the wind at my back now. Whew! I need some sleep. :)

  3. I got caught up in the moment and didn't scale out. I do think that scaling out is the best way to ride a trend.

  4. I know the exact feeling. It feels like you have aged 20 years in 8 hours due to the intense feelings and emotions. My wildest daily ride has been only 5 figures but it was enough to give me gray hairs!

We had a such a big daily range during Wednesday's session, I think Thursday will be relatively quiet. Friday will be interesting with the PPI and trade deficit numbers coming up.

  5. I could use a nice smooth easy rally in the EUR tomorrow. I'm not greedy, just give me 1 big figure in a nice smooth steady manner and I'll be a happy camper! :) I wonder if the bombing of the Australian embassy in Jakarta will have much of an impact. Maybe more psychological than anything else. I see that AUD is down pretty sharply on the news.

  6. trade-ya1,

I can use a smooth ride too tomorrow :) But I think we'll see a narrow range day. I don't think the bombings will further impact EurUsd.

You seem to stay up quite late for NYC time. How much do you usually sleep?

  8. It looks like it might be a slow day today for EurUsd. I got whipped around after the eco numbers this morning.
For now I'm on the short side.

  9. "Yawn" - agreed. I'm also short. Waiting for a test of 50 and then possibly 30. Market seems to be waiting for tomorrows trade figures

    Good Luck

  10. I just covered. If it bounces from here I'll reshort. We might see a test of 50. I'll be surprised if it goes down to 30s.

    Good luck to you too.
