According to Market News it was stops in USD/JPY and EUR/JPY and some help from IMM accounts going into the close. There was also mention of a large Swiss bank selling euro-yen.
I've seen on FX Calendars scheduled speeches by Fed officials etc. For example, tomorrow at 10am EST, St.Louis Fed Pres Poole speaks. Is there central source/site where these speeches/transcripts can be viewed/read. Any TV coverage as they happen? (probably not as I haven't seen them on any of the regular business channels.) Just wondering what these speeches are like as many mkt commentators often cite them to explain a currency/mkt move.
You can read the text of these speaches at http://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents.htm but they post them about a day after the fact.
anyone check out the cable today? holy mackeral, if anyone was able to buy / sell on the first 100pt uptick, and then sell/buy on the 100pt downtick, i'd love to know how you knew it was going to do it!
The rate bounced off the 50% fibo [May - Dec] yesterday. The run up was an extension of this bounce I think. The downward action is probably related to sentiment after the numbers today. Anyway, I didn't make a single pip out of this
nope... my mini account is working, I had to call in and make an order for my regular account just a minute ago
Finally its back on after a hour in the dark. Good thing I just closed my EUR/USD short postion before that.
