Discussion in 'Forex' started by chinook, Aug 16, 2004.

  1. I posted a while back a run to 1.36, after this correction we we should see a run to 1.45..............I got slammed on the USD/CHF about 2 weeks ago it has depressed me.

  2. How is the Globex volume this morning? This seems like it's still thin.

  3. The volume's OK. Yesterday's volume was also back to normal levels.

  4. Volume was definetely better then yesterday. Most dealers I spoke with initially attributed the dollar rise to some short covering, but as the day wore on, there were solid spec buyers across the board especially in USD/CHF. The 1.1700 level should be tough (upper regression channel).

Never a dull moment in FX.

    Cheers!

  5. Hi Dave,

I am used of better results by you than the results of your

    managed funds with Aspen...

  6. The wording on your post is not clear, however, I think I get the angle.

You are correct to some degree.

    1. Early on in the managed funds we were still trying some different strategies that were not being implemented in the service. Luckily we did not use them in the service, lol.

The managed funds and the service are now idenitcal in terms of trade execution.

    2. Performance on the managed fund side will many times be different than someone who uses the service given that each person will risk different amounts of capital per trade.

We run the managed fund pretty tight and always risk equal amounts of capital on each trade, hence, there will be times when we outperform and underperform someone who is taking the same trades but applying different risk parameters.

I believe that was your question.

  8. Hi Dave,

I remember your website from the past when you were

trading for yourself only with better than average results..

Didn't try to put you down in any way....:)

    Best,
    Nick.

  9. Nick,

No put down at all. I think you might be referring back to the days of HVT (scalping) when leverage and a completely different style and instrument (stocks) were traded.

FX, for me at least, is more of an investment vehicle versus a high pwered trading vehicle for maximum return, although it can be viewed that way of course.

Uncorrelated, absolute returns are the goal for me.

    Cheers!

  10. Dave,

Yep, the days of HVT !

Why you are not scalping anymore ?

Maybe retiring on making modest gains on your big profits
    of the past ?!:p
