I only did a "mental trade" after the numbers - but seeing as the order book was giving a lot of "false signals" for me, I preferred to stay out. The potential was only for 10 ticks as well, which goes to show the weakness of this market at this time and price level. USDJPY did not move either, so it was no fireworks to speak of. Good 'sisu' on that USDCHF, Ivanovich.
Roger that, sir. I'm more curious as to what you (Gring and Chinook) think about a top forming as well. Thoughts? Oh, and I'm back in long on Euro at 13285.
I think that there is some hesitation at these levels right now. My guess is that we're in for choppy consolidation still until we get some further signals. The underlying trend seems to be unshaken. If friday's NFP will show bad numbers we will sky-rocket on the EURUSD. Medium term investors will have to enter longs, or just stay out. Still, everyone staying out of the market has not exactly gained a whole lot. Personally, I will be looking for good EURUSD short setups above 1.3300 again - just like yesterday. The popular talk might get some momentum though. Then the BOJ numbers tonight will show us if there is some substance to their statements. There are supposedly some 103 expiries at 15:00 EST too on USDJPY. Otherwise 1.3350 is the closest big one on EURUSD.
I'm short now with tight stops. I'm not getting very clear signals from volume though at this price level--we're stuck in this small range for now.
ECB Trichet starting to talk right now .. Check Bloomberg UK - not on Bloomberg US right now, I think. Also watch movements on USDJPY etc too .. to see responses on EURUSD.
We will push for a ATH I think, so some good shorts will appear round there, Thomson notes talk of fixing-related sales towards 16:00 GMT, and offers around 1.3320-30. The US equities open synchronization for this latest push is different today; we have consumer confidence shortly. I'm spot demo long from around 1.33 , just to play my thoughts a little. edit: closed at +14 - but no real money gained on that. Pausing-strategy.
