Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

  1. Too difficult to call, but sometimes it happens around 1h before Tokyo open. I have no idea, just that I think that the crosses will see some good pieces of meat hanging there for the sharks to devour. Yes, I kind of foresee a USD bloodbath - but it's a big whale.

The japanese kind of like eating whale meat, though. :)
(Can't forget the 105-level history for USDJPY; it will be difficult too. Difficult, but inevitable.)

  2. Anyone willing to take this 1.2815 upwards into the equities close ? It's almost dead calm waters now, with Walker-swagger speaking.

  3. Funny how it jumps 5 ticks 5 seconds after I submit my post. :D

It's the drowsieness, I guess - better get some paracetamol.

My demo spot account is up almost 120% since yesterday now, but I hope to get a nice payout on the long term position. Maybe I should consider short-term swings for profits+re-entry - but on the other hand I think that could prove counter-productive.

I'm having a hard enough time not taking profits at 40 ticks now.

  5. Nice position trade you have there gringinho, you gonna hold through some big news items coming out tomorrow and friday? For me I usually do better deciding beforehand whether or not I'm going to sit through any kind of profit-taking from the weaker hands, cuz otherwise I usually end up selling the bottom of any dip.

  6. Yes, I will hold - but watch the spikes - if any big ones. It has to do with perceived support at consolidated lower levels earlier. I'm having problems with this type of trading, because my inclination is to get into the action with all guns blazing.

Now I will have to start referring to the long-term position trade as a "side-trade", and not my scalps as side-trades. It's tough to adjust a mindset which has proved succesful, but I know it's limited with regards to further growth because of size-limits like I mentioned in earlier posts. Being a successful position trader would propel me into another league I think. I hope that all my work trying to decipher news, commentaries, charts etc. can prove worthwhile for this. I don't really rely too much on indicators, but will watch for s/r levels and the typical fibos.

I will try to keep it simple and as fundamental to the markets as I can see it, but I know NFP etc easily moves EURUSD 100 pips most times. Now, THAT, I don't know how I'll handle. :)

E.g a +100 from here would be extremely tempting, and probably prove to be the sane thing to claim profits at that time.

  9. Don't envy; I dind't trade it - just tried to call it.
I'm starting to feel on such a roll again, just like after that 100+ succesful trades in a row. Better go watch some TV or something.

Does being "lucky" a very high number in a row amount to anything, any conclusions ?
On the other hand - the last 10+ years have been so very good to me. :D
