I saw this Bacardi TV add yesterday. I love it! http://www.bacardilive.com/stanvsfly/videos/FLY60_large.wmv The fly's facial gestures are so funny!
Some small quick scalps so far today, long for 4 ticks and short for 2 ticks just now. I have no clear bias - other than range-bound. It will probably be very muted like everyone points out, with possible reactions later in asian session where movement will be less restricted. TWS seems a little sluggish today too, but not as bad as yesterday and friday. It seems trading still will be tricky, and my cable-connection seems stable now after a week of constant drops. I monitor my cablemodem Signal-to-Noise-Ration and downstream voltage with a SNMP monitor program, as to identify spikes etc. There are other ways, like with www.SNMP4j.org , but why code it, when tools are already there. I might snap it into my trading application, though - to get some nice graphs ... and perhaps some connection stability prediction, warnings .. hmmm, nice and strange idea; a trading application warning of network stability, delays/roundtrip-time. I could do the same for my router - get the SNMP data out of there, but better have e.g traceroute, ping surveillance of data feed servers. Well, I guess coding a lot of stuff lately has gotten to me. Drowsieness and lack of sleep 'coz staying up late and early to code on all kind of small projects. Almost miss the "serenity" of trading only.
Another quick scalp long for 2 ticks, I guess this bottomfishing could be more worthwhile in a market with other conditions than right now. The characteristics of the market is for reluctant moves, so signals seem a little more obscured for doing tape-reading and scalping my style. I think I will prefer this approach to quick scalps, as there is a lot of uncertainties in this election; just will have to cross my fingers and hope those who said they weren't prepared for a big turnout have gotten their act together and watched some news-reports lately (I couldn't believe my ears when someone said something like that on international TV - not having an electoral voting system prepared for a big turnout, when the last few months there has been daily reports of record high voting interest).
You might be right about being stuck in a range today. I'm hoping that at least we've made the daily bottom here. Meanwhile, crude oil's making some gyrations.
I've been watching the action "with eagle eyes" since around 05 AM EST, and have seen nothing but range bound activity with tiny stop-run extensions now and then. On the background on an hourly chart it seems to be just the continuation into the election. Don't get fooled by the trapping flashes in the book etc., but primarily stay within the established range. It's kind of exhausting watching the tape actively for so long, esp. when already drowsy. edit: just remember european close, US lunch now etc.
2 more quick long scalps for 4 and 2 ticks, but after this I think we have little impulses until some more factual results, projections start crawling out of the wood.
