In that case, don't force it. I wrote earlier that yesterday my quotes were blanking out and happened 7-8 times. Also, once my CME native stop-limit order didn't trigger--very strange!
Seeing how the dwindling USD and sky-high double deficits raises concerns by the Fed about attracting future foreign investments, it is clear that countries are getting worried about financing the US deficit by buying USD and continuing supporting a consumer-regime that maybe has it's days numbered (yes, I'm exaggerating a little). The world sentiment against some aspects of the USD dominance certainly will propagate if world growth next year suffers along with USD. This would probably provocate voter reactions, demands on the longer term - as well as world consumers, producers IMO. Just as this opinion will provocate another part of the world. At least it doesn't seem as easy to piggy-back US growth nowadays for other countries. It's seems to be getting everyone-for-themselves even more now. Does anyone think this could be the start of a major corrective action to change structural deficiencies, skew in the US economy ? edit: the choppiness in the EURUSD/EuroFX seems to have discouraged traders before the GDP a little. I would have thought more power would rise to annihilate the 1.2765 resistance. The bash-fest is not over yet - and we have the more agile asian session too. And then there're the ever closing events looming over the markets. edit2: for anyone seeing the TWS-sluggishness (it goes down to a crawl sometimes - almost delivering no quotes), restarting it seems to alleviate a little .. but holding a position would be dangerous during a logout/login - so one would need to evaluate the seriousness fo the situation.
George Soros up next on Bloomberg. Wow, almost primetime advertising against Bush on Bloomberg so near the election .. or will they try to roast him like a dry, salty peanut ? Wonder if he has a short USD position still and what's his recent take on the EURUSD move - if he'll speak something else than politics. Soros and Arnold - the next battle-giants for presidency in 20xx ?
I have it streaming to my computer. Just go to the Bloomberg website. BTW, seems like crude oil is getting used as an excuse by some EURUSD traders now to drag down trading a little. IB still manages to do their own feet-dragging today. edit: ROFL, he lastly added that he thought the Bloomberg commentaries were unusually intelligent with regards to the China rate hike. He talked a bit about IMF intolerance about fiscal deficits in emerging markets, and how this prejudicate them into not being able to grow themselves out of the debt-regime and continuing as debt-paying milking cows (paraphrasing a lot here).
Thanks! Yes EURUSD seems to be pegged to crude today too. Although the correlation was stronger yesterday.
Quite surprisingly Thomson went long at 1.2770 and have a stop at 1.2720 - and target of 1.2930, but will go flat at a 1.2840 failure.
Two small scalps of 3 and 5 ticks, but other than that I'm doing some serious DOCSIS cable modem "hacking" today. My ISP is so unstable that I had to start checking the cablemodem signal strength (SNR, power), resets, SNMP events etc. Annoying having to deal with incompetent support personnel, but I guess they wouldn't be working at first line support if they were fully skilled technicians. The broadband connection problems along with the, frankly, scary quick moves - choppy action before months end and FRIDAY --- AND election week ... it all calls for even more fear and being extra careful. A lot of opportunities -- NICE BIG MOVES -- for winnings or have a nice drawdown. Best tip: take at least 10 mins break after any big move ride, since it's good to reset the bias in this big chopping action. Good luck.
While I have been fighting with my ISP and cable service provider, EURUSD has finally moved upwards to start reaching within the previous range. Strange how incompetent and ignorant both technical administrators and support personnel can be - not even knowing cable modem basics - not to mention the frail network security in the worst country in the world by hacking incidents (they have four times as many as #2 on the list, and figure highly on the list with other coutries with a lack of IT law, like Israel too). Well, I had to laugh about the security and show them how some signal interference was spiking Power higher and Signal-Noise-Ratio much lower resulting in resyncing the modem. Well, at least we go into this weekend with a little bang .. Perhaps there will be a little action towards the end ? It's not a normal friday by any means.
I ended up baby sitting a trade on Thursday evening and went to bed past 4am local time! I got chopped for about 12 ticks but the market was so slow. It felt like my hair was being pulled one by one. So I ended up sleeping very late on Friday. Looking back at the charts, it looked quite choppy after the GDP release but then trended nicely. I'm glad I didn't force myself to stay up because I would have gotten chopped several times with my sleepiness and then miss the trend! Gringinho, I hope you solved the problems with the cable modem. I had similar experience with the cable techs. When I first got mine installed the advertised speed was 1.5MB/s. After the tech installed and tweaked mine I was getting about 0.75MB/s and the guy tried 1.5 hours to tweak it further. Then he gave up saying something like this is the best I'll get! Well after he left , I found some tweaks on the Net and brought it up to 1.5MB/s!
