Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

  1. There were some wild swings right before 8:30! I couldn't catch the long trade due to hesitation within the first 10 minutes. I'm hoping for a 20-25 pips pullback to jump in. Now it's pulling back...

  2. Did the price update also lag? Were you able to enter after the nubers were released, but before the price was updated at FXCM? Or did they block that now?

  3. I got in a little above 1.23 before the numbers and had a limit set - so I just got 35 pips of the move - and with a quite small position. I figured there was a good chance it was a disappointment, but you never know about the reaction or price levels.

I would not short this quite yet ... downward revisions etc. ... you need to see some break downwards first.

  4. I was flat before the numbers came out. The book becomes very thin, and stops cascades more than the spot. Bonds are still up. I think today will be one way street, I'll go long after a pullback.

Edit: How did you manage not getting stopped out around 1.2280 right before the numbers came out? Did you have a loose stop?

  5. I can't say if price lagged any - since it's all individual quotes on spot FX.

Had a long on FXCM on a low 1.23 entry as well, and a limit a little above. That limit didn't get executed before roughly 15 mins after the price had skyrocketed through it.
I also entered some trades when action was still hot after the NFP - roughly 5 mins after - and those orders took 2-3 minutes to get executed (i.e they executed roughly 7 mins before the first limit order). Absolutely horrible stuff ...

  6. I became trigger shy this morning. Still waiting for that elusive 25 pips pullback :) To me this still looks like a it'll be a slowly up trending day.

    Gringinho,

I didn't know you also trade the spot. Do you get guaranteed stops ?

  9. I got stubborn and waited for a 25 pip pullback and missed the long train during the 21 pips pullback. Well at least , I'm not shorting :) No trades this morning--a new milestone for me! I'm too tired today, I'll turn off my PC and get some rest before madness sets in!

Good luck for the rest of the day. Remember that some pits are closing early today.

Some uncanny activity - but these guys seem to be pitbulls clutching on there.
