Hmm... 9/12 - China bitches about a tire tariff. 9/13 - China investigates U.S. auto part and chicken dumping. 9/14 - China makes a statement (without supporting data) that the EU replaced the U.S. as their largest trading partner. Let me guess, you're not that good at trading patterns, are you?
what does the US precisely export to China except porn movies and fast food chains? Maybe you can enlighten us. For someone who has lived in Asia for quite a while I can assure you there really is not a whole lot that Chinese or Japanese desire to buy from the U.S. except for some speciality products or products in process. Heck even Intel's or AMD's CPUs are nowadays not manufactured in Malaysia anymore but to a large extent in China. I never claimed the US is not important to the rest of the world to a more or lesser degree than China or Europe is important to the world. But claiming others dont understand the topic under discussion while you very obviously fail to comprehend the implications of a TRADE DEFICIT the US has with China makes you look pretty dumb. It simply means the US buys more stuff in nominal value than Chinese from the US, supporting my above point. Second, I claimed, and pointed to statistics that support my claim, that the importance the US plays for China is greatly diminishing relative to what it has been just a few years ago and that other countries take over the US's traditional role as the prime trading partner. Which point do you still disagree with?
You know what looks even dumber? Misinterpreting my words and not understanding the English language. I said the US was a massive export economy to China and Europe. As in the economy of the US is an export economy to China. NOT that the US massively exports to China. My point for you (since you don't understand English), is that without US dollars going to Europe for us buying those exports, than Europe has less buying power to purchase exports from China. One way or the other, China gets screwed when it relys heavily on exports that indirectly are fed by the US economy purchasing from China's "diversified" trading partners.
you arrogante Americano ;-) a) the US broke trade agreements, the US would have bitched in exacty the same way b) which autopart does China import from the US besides the steering wheel? Ok, about chicken,my wrong I left out that some midwest chicken are sent over to China. c) do a simple google search and you find the supporting data, you moron. How come something a Chinese government trade page shows is less credible than what comes out of the filthy mouths of some American trade generals? I find it funny how some Americans still debate and defend the absolute, uncontested dominance that they claim America still has while Chinese dont even spend a single second to think about such absurd things, instead they go about their daily work and grow at mindblowing speed still into the forseeable future. But hey, it has always been hard to move from higher means to lower levels while knowing others will soon surpass you. Always has been, always will be...
Yes I am. And far from being short-sighted, it is being proactive because it will happen eventually regardless - better it happen while the US is still the dominant global economy and can manage the outcome. Ideally, this would be accompanied by a coordinated sovereign default by ALL the G7 countries. I am also suggesting MFN status with China be immediately revoked and very high tarrifs be imposed on ALL Chinese imports until they join the rest of the civilized world and float their currency. China has yet to demonstrate it can excel on a level playing field.
a) my wrong, we cant all be perfect English speakers, after all the majority of the world clearly DOES NOT speak English nor does it have to. b) (than=then, relies not relys, Mr. English, my God, some Americans can be so much fun sometimes). Aside that, how do you support your claim? Germany has relied on its exporting power for the past 60 years, how did that hurt the country? Or maybe wanna take a look at Japan? There are the occasional hickups but so what? Its as if you say trading is a fruitless business because it never goes straight up or straight down. So still, what really is your point except posing?
all right, dare to take a guess whats gonna happen to the American consumer the night after you raised taxes. 50% of the middle class will instantly move to the powerty level, thats my simple guess. The threat by Americans that the rest of the world depends on the value of the US debt does not really work. Should the U.S. ever lose its credibility then its game over for this beautyful country for good as it has relied on borrowed capital and cheap financing from the time the first settler marched into the country. Who is gonna lend to someone with bad credit?
It didn't. Germany is an incredibly powerful example of how a relatively small, well-educated and motivated country can not only survive, but thrive, when the national trade policy is rational. Germany can compete with everyone. China has not demonstrated it can compete with anyone without a massive implicit US subsidy. Perhaps it can - I hope it can - but to date that has not been demonstrated.
It will hurt. Not hurt nearly as bad as the outright starvation by the millions that will occur in China as factories are closed by the thousands. But it will hurt.
