  1. yes, green and white teas are the least oxidized of the tea family. can boil them fresh. black teas typically take 2 weeks to a month to process oxidation and dried into pellets. black tea is the most popular as found in lipton, earl grey, etc.

  2. again, from about.com:

    "Black Tea

    * Pluck the very youngest leaves and leaf buds.
    * Roll the leaves between your hands, and crush them until the leaves start to darken and turn red.
    * Spread them out on a tray, and leave them in a cool location for 2-3 days.
    * Dry them in the oven at 250F for about 20 minutes.
    * Store in an air-tight container."

    Still intense... ;)

I get what you are saying, but America has only been around for a few hundred years, and we have arguably made more technological progress in this time then china made in 4000 years.

edit: us lazy Americans invented the microcomputer - a device that amplifies our problem-solving skills. I would argue that the microcomputer is the single most important invention of the last 2000 years.(Along with the integrated circuit)

  4. why did the US allow the Chinese to accumulate 1.3 T dollars ??? it seems the americans were sleeping all the while. Mebbe the US should learn to use India to contain China.

  7. Chinese invented the steam bun filled with cardboard box papers; and American invented triple-A bonds filled with sub-primary mess.

Same games played at different level and fields.

  8. I never pretended they were policy recommendations. They were a very partial list of response we could make in the event China followed through on threats to trash our currency or debt. They are ways we could retaliate. As for your objections, of course no action is cost free and yes, we could do it to any other country if they provoked us. That's why we are a superpower and they aren't.

I did. And I agree with you that Americans need to ween themselves off easy credit. It's just not Asian credit, it is credit created by the irresponsibly easy monetary policies of the Fed. The Chinese are just holding (a part of) the paper, as they must, since unlike Americans, they are producing MORE than they are consuming.

I just find it utterly amazing that of all countries in the world you all are blaming China. What have they done?? Just producing a lot of stuff very cheaply for you, and all they want for their efforts are the pieces of junk called US Treasury securities denominated in ever-depreciating dollars.

The Chinese are not forcing you Americans to overconsume, it's your own decision to sink ever deeper into debt. And thus there is no amount of yuan revaluation nor import tariffs that will solve this problem. The solution can be seen in the mirror, but most of you just refuse to look.

  10. ah shit doesnt the truth hurt. They talk about inferior chinese products, what about gm and ford? I wouldnt call mcdonalds fine cuisine either. Lets sink deeper : US treasuries and paper dollars? What happens when you dilute a bottle of liquor 20x? no more liquor just the illusion, the smell. Last I checked the dollar is cotton, and backed by... byy.... future hopes and promises, of future generations. Is this patriotic? some seem to think so. oh and .. the fed will always save us. there you have it, your very own personal saviour. which creates more problems than it solves, after all , they are the ones doing all of the prinitng.
