    Too bad he is atheist...

But on a serious note, the US can make more money by not selling out to the Chinese, the Chinese' appetite for oil will only grow and with it increased demand and prices. Hey, it might even give the US a competitive edge. Just look at all the problems Europe is facing with Russia controlling gas, if it wasn't for Russia's increasing control of the energy sector it would be in even worse shape then it is in now.

Of course, we don't have any imperialist ambitions when we "liberated" Iraq to secure energy resources... :D

China has planned poorly. They know they won't get this deal. It's a sign of desperation.

A lot of their energy comes from stinky polluting coal, and now must rely on a double-digit rate of increase dependency on foreign oil to supplement their energy needs.

You just can't build a first world economy without thinking about the energy source -whatever that may be. What they're doing today they should have done 10 years ago. Now they're scrambling.

China is a little slow on this. Perhaps they didn't realize that their economy was going to grow this fast this soon. A lot of things happened really fast in the last 5 years. Reportedly, there is a $1B/week of foreign investments are pouring into China!

But look at Japan. They were a fast growing economy too. But they didn't end up buying an American oil company. Maybe they should have instead of the Rockerfeller center. LOL.

So, energy cost is a HUGE component of their GDP! But they recycle, use energy efficient machines, public transportation, etc. So, there are ways around it.

But then again, Japan is a much smaller country than China.
