"One-Child Policy Didn't Give China Too Many Boys"

Maybe not in % but in real absolute numbers that is 35 MM men who won't find a spouse. Most countries don't even have that many citizens.

"The official numbers show China has 723.34 million men and 688.44 million women, accounting for 51.24 percent and 48.76 percent of the population, respectively. It means there are 34.9 million more men than women"

Yeah but you compare apples and oranges. China DOES HAVE more than 1 billion people. 30 million is a drop on a hot stone. And everyone who wants finds a partner. A significant percentage stay single nowadays, significantly more than 5% each gender (in fact there are currently 220 million adults who are single) . Hence the 2% difference should not be used to justify not being able to find a partner.

Good point, but I have a counter argument. Those % not evenly distributed in the country and can cause localized problems. In San Francisco they have similar gender inequity having more males and in NYC they have the same problem but having more females. And it does cause problem with dating, although maybe not as big as one would expect.

"Singles in Silicon Valley are having a hard time finding relationships. There are several issues at play, including dating app fatigue, culture problems, and skewed ratio of women to men. One male tech founder said: "I have a higher confidence in making another million dollars than I do in finding a spouse." Feb 15, 2018"

"Women can outnumber men 1.2 to 1 in NYC in some age brackets, making it difficult for men to settle down quickly or easily or willingly. Guys in Manhattan often behave like a kid in a candy store, aka Peter Pan syndrome, making it difficult for women to seek out relationships in New York City."

    And yes, I am right:

Single rural Chinese men are having a hard time to find a wife due to gender imbalance

    CHINA / SOCIETY
Single rural Chinese men are having a hard time to find a wife due to gender imbalance

"Rural men of marriageable age are having difficulties to find a spouse which is an increasingly visible problem in today's Chinese society, demographers and marriage experts found. China's latest national population census shows that there are 17.52 million more men of marriageable age between 20 and 40 than women.

This means that a large number of Chinese men may not be able to find a wife, said Xu Tianli, head of the Shanghai Marriage Introduction Organization Administration Association, adding that "most of them live in rural areas."

A survey on 267 villages in all 31 provinces in the Chinese mainland showed that, single men and women accounted for 5.92 percent and 3.62 percent respectively. In other words, there were 63 single women for every 100 single men, according to the survey conducted by the Central China Normal University in 2017."

A relationship favors a beta man because he has access to regular sex, which is always quite difficult for him outside of a relationship. The alpha man is actually hindered by a relationship because his options are constrained by the relationship, not by the lack of options like for the beta. But of course, women don't want beta men, they want the alpha men. These days, women generally favor the qualities of the alpha men, not so much the beta.

There are of course far more beta man out there, so if the women truly wanted to get married, they have lots of options. But sadly, women don't want any of these guys, they only want the ones they can't get, the ones they have to compete for, and the ones who will only use them and toss them. This whole idea of the Peter Pan syndrome is a female tactic used to shame men since the women are clearly mad that they aren't getting what they want.

Instead of shaming men, we should be shaming women for their never ending quest to settle for nothing but the best. Imagine 100% of the women chasing the top 5% of men, and they all think they are entitled to him! LOL

Fair, but local distributional issues plague every society. Not a home brewed Chinese problem.

Who told you that? Every woman that I have ever known favors an emotionally stable, faithful, consistent, and loving guy to be in relationship with and get married to. Those guys are the textbook opposite of alpha males. Relationships with alpha males almost always end in disaster, divorce, infighting, domestic violence. You must be referring to some 19 year old drunk horny college chicks who are a few standard deviations below the median iq wise...

You never replied even once to my economics focused posts in this thread. And societal issues factor directly into the economics.
