It's still impressive given they just started. I bet in contrast Nvidia and Amd are withholding much larger performance gains to shower us with their timed and overpriced products for years to come. It's good that China is pushing ahead in this area and it will ultimately also benefit consumers outside China.

Let the US first get a grip about its election system and the fact that every other civilized country can decide its elections in 1 day before the US worries about others all the time. Enough bullshit of its own making to sort out, me thunks. Hard to escape the impression that it tries to consistently draw the attention away from its own deficits and problems by constantly playing world police man.

US' election system however shitty doesn't affect other countries. China's uncontrolled re-entry into the atmosphere ditching its garbage all over the world does. That's the difference.

All China has to do is steal IP and hire the right people. There's also huge CCP-sponsored subsidies and a 997 work ethic that US companies don't have. Given those advantages, I'm surprised they are not further along. Especially in the area of manufacturing. I suspect that it's because they can only recruit on nationalism. There's about a 10 year wait for an Indian or Chinese person to gain permanent residency in the US on a work visa (and if they lose employment, they get kicked out within 3 months). Meanwhile, no one from the rest of the world wants to move to and live in China. So even though China has a large population, a lot of those people are still destitute and that's the only talent pool Chinese companies are able to draw from.

  7. Ok not all trumpers should die its not their fault they have a party that requires unyielding alegience to their authoritarian dominator but its an anachronosim of the limbic system and game theoretical stalemate, the other side isnt much better with their quotas and diversity and gender confusion and hiring based on skim color rather than merit or talent or work ethic

Wanna count the space garbage by country of origin? The US will not fare well...

That does not appear factually true. We have witnessed a huge exodus of US schooled and trained Chinese who all preferred to move back to China to become successful. Also, how do you want to improve on Chinese manufacturing? It is already as good as it gets. The iPhone is in large parts manufactured and assembled in China. You can today produce any top quality product in China or shit products, all depends on the pricing of items and the material that goes into making them.

China will eventually catch up in chipmaking, it's just a matter of time. It reminds me of the early to mid 1800s, when the New England mills were stealing technology from the mills in Great Britain.
