The libtards are reeling. You really think Chinese are that stupid to start a trade war against their biggest customer.
China doesn't really care about the tech. being obsolete; China just wants ideas. China is good in a lot of things but one thing that China is not very good at is original creation, coming up with a completely new idea or concept out of thin air, something and one of the very few things that the West still has advantage over China because of its encouragement of freedom of expression over conformity. Once China's gotten their hands on the original technology, what they are very good at is adapting it and improving it to make it better. So they don't really care that it's obsolete, they can make it to be modern and up to date.
Innovation and inventions are always based on R&D and a pool of scientific intellectuals. China has both. You don't really need to be very talented, but know what it takes in the R&D process is enough. Very very few people in the world are capable of thinking original ideas. The West has a head start on R&D, but China is catching up soon. China spent 2% of their GDP on R&D last year, which was more than Europe but less than US. China graduates millions of scientists and engineers each year. Their education is very vigorous on match and science. At this point in time, I don't think China needs to copy other people’s ideas. Their own R&D and scientific minds will drive their technological advance forward. They are already pioneering in many fields like nanotechnology, quantum techs, genetics, etc. Their export sector of GDP has shrunk to 20% from 40% couple years ago. They are focusing on developing their economy to a more consuming based rather than export based now. Majority of low-cost factories in China have already moved to countries like Vietnam and others.
Then they shouldn't have mind all the tariffs that Trump has added then let along retaliating with counter-tariff. So that was just a showing of Chinese nationalism to appease those Chinese rednecks?
20% of gdp is not insignificant, and retaliating on perceived unfairness is not only human nature, but 100% expected in a trade war.
