Yup, I'm still running XP on one computer, have no intention of buying Windows again.
I got fed up with this bs, every 3 years Windows creating a new OS, "ya need to upgrade your software, upgrade your computer", get fucked around with then needing to upgrade all other software, MS Office....., and every other type program, begin relearning everything" sort out bugs once again. What a fuckin treadmill nightmare from fuckin Gates mob!
Every 3 to 5 years spending thousands of dollars.

I hope it's a version configured to receive security updates. Otherwise it's a massive security risk and probably already running some malware.
Upgrading from Windows 7 was painless for me. Software worked the same and some that ran in compatibility mode worked much better. It was also a free upgrade. You don't really need to upgrade to every OS they release. That said, I much prefer the Linux environment, things get done much faster. But it does have more technical glitches after the first install. It takes a while to get things running smoothly but you can actually fix things with real solutions -- unlike Windows which is mostly "uninstall, reinstall again, maybe it will work".
