  2. I think you missed the point of the cartoon. It does not address the start of the depression, it deals with the government's response to the depression. In the early 30's and 2008-2009 the governments response was to throw money at the problem. The whole point of this topic is how the cartoon from 1934 rings true today.

  5. It created so much production and services work that women were needed on airplane/tank assembly lines.

    The unemployment rate during WWII in the U.S. was probably less than 2%.

  6. The unemployment rate in the US at the start of WW2 was 17% which indicates that all the spending did nothing to help and probably made it worst.

    Sad part is FDR is Obama's hero.
