I feel like most of the public is loathe to be forced to move their quality of life backward to comply with a random gov't mandate that fails to serve the purpose so widely claimed in the media. There may come a day when EVs or alternatives to the ICE are viable, sensible and their construction and life cycle is indeed better for the planet - but we are nowhere close to that point today.

There was a time oil and coal were subsidized yuugly. Not peep was said about it. Still is to certain extent, especially in the developing world.

Why hold non-polluting renewables to a different standard?

The government mandate to EV's in the timelines that are being proposed will be a disaster.

    Global temperature record - Wikipedia

Temperature estimates relative to 1950 from over 800,000 years of the EPICA ice cores in Antarctica. The present (1950) is on the right side of the graph.

Reconstruction of the past 5 million years of climate history, based on oxygen isotope fractionation in deep sea sediment cores (serving as a proxy for the total global mass of glacial ice sheets), fitted to a model of orbital forcing (Lisiecki and Raymo 2005)[2] and to the temperature scale derived from Vostok ice cores following Petit et al. (1999).[3]

Plot showing the variations, and relative stability, of climate during the last 12000 years.

Dude, you started the whole climate change debate when we are just discussing frozen Tesla chargers.

And you dare to call yourself an engineer...

Anyhow, it was very cold all over the North and the Midwest, yet we only heard from Chicago. That is a win, I guess?

  10. Average land and ocean temperatures are steadily rising. Extreme weather conditions are steadily increasing. How would you read that? I don't know what you guys are looking at, but I'll go with NASA.
