Cheapest 4 monitor setup

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by swiftmike99, Apr 12, 2009.

  1. Whats the cheapest, can be used, equipment setup for 4 monitors on PCI-express motherboard? Currently I use Matrox 450 agp 32 mb and Matrox 450 pci 32 mb. This setup is super cheap and works great. I am looking to mimick that onto the pci-express platform. I have a quad matrox PCI m200 i belieive but for some reasons it refuses to work properly.

I am thinking some kind of Nvida pci-e dual monitor plus nvidia pci dual monitor card?

    Thank you for any help.

I used to have a system with a PCI Express with two vga output. This was further expanded to four monitors by adding two additional WS Tech USB multi-display adapters. Cost of each adapter is around $70.

You need two USB ports freed for this set-up and to load the required drivers for the adapter.

This can be expanded further just by adding more USB adapters.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards.

Depends on your mobo. Most of those with x38 or better, have 2, PCIEx16... then you can use Nvidia Quadro NVS 290s.

If you have a budget mobo, you may be able to use an NVS 290 + NVS 280 PCI.
