A perversely fascinating case study in market failure... Let us hope this drug actually beats the odds... and the researchers manage to raise capital despite the obvious lack of interest in the professional community... "There is no FDA-approved way to get there from here. Someday a dedicated medical team working beyond the reach of the FDA (perhaps in Mainland China, which already contains numerous clinics that cater to foreign medical refugees) will defeat cancer. In the intervening years or decades, terminal cancer patients in the US will be restricted to the same old patent medicines." [ http://www.lewrockwell.com/walker/walker24.html ] "By itself, taking a drug from the laboratory all the way to completing a clinical trial, is a tremendously difficult process that is almost never completed without the direct support of pharmaceutical industry." [ http://www.depmed.ualberta.ca/dca/ ] "It can be a problem, just as "orphan" drugs often don't make it to market because there aren't enough patients who could benefit from the them to make it profitable for drug companies to invest in developing and marketing them. In those cases, there are government programs to encourage the manufacture of these drugs. Perhaps a similar sort of program should be in place for situations like this or perhaps tax incentives to encourage pharmaceutical companies to manufacture drugs like this. Also, if this drug were truly the miracle cure that it's being represented as, believe me, pharmaceutical companies would find a way to make money off of it, either by trying to modify it to make it more effective or adding a molecule to target it more closely to the cancer cell." The only problem with a miracle cure for the pharma (snake on a stick) biz is eventually you'd be out of business Because all the sick are cured. Then what???
There is evidence that DCA can cause significant side-effects such as toxic neuropathy: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/...ve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=16476929 In addition, DCA has been shown to cause cancer in animals i.e. it is carcinogenic as was mentioned earlier - that is why clinical trials are needed in order to determine the optimal dosage etc. Lastly, it is an envorimental pollutant but I'm sure that would be considered irrelevant for most people. In short though, the headline "cheap 'safe' drug kills most cancers" is misleading at best. It is most likely that DCA will eventually find a role as a component part of a cancer treatment regime rather than being an all- encompassing "miracle cure". Thanks for the lemon juice and baking soda joke!
Salt? Are you friggin' serious? Yeah, it's not environmental... it's an abundance of an essential electrolyte. Stop watching infomercials.
So taking an acid (lemon juice) which has been neutralized with baking soda will alkalinize your body? I doubt it.
What a knee jerk reaction. The safe levels are very well established. The stuff has been tested and approved for other uses for many years. So far I have not found anecdotal evidence of a cure in a patient. One guy reported a dramatic slowing of the growth of a tumor and that is a good sign however. I'm looking into taking a small dose every day since it has been known for some time that the stuff causes damaged mitochondria to start functioning again. I would think that alone would make medical news, I don't recall ever seeing that result from anything else.
A dose of pharmaceutically pure DCA smaller than the above? Or, are you talking about the lemon juice and baking soda??
The PH of the blood is 7.35 " the normal pH of human arterial blood is approximately 7.40 (normal range is 7.35-7.45), a weak alkaline solution " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood "quackwatch" has a hidden agenda and is itself a "Quack". I have found there are many subversive elements online these days trying to keep people ignorant and trying to prolong the status quo. It is therefore imperative one does their own research on every subject.
