Yeah, Sam, don't bother researching it for yourself. All those planes were dropping sunshine and happy thoughts over Iraq.
Well, good for you. And it is all working out so well. Shrubby's diplomatic 'vision' is about 20/200. He has dug such a deep hole for this nation, we may never get out of it. He doesn't just look like an idiot... m
I think that says a lot about the left (more than they'd care to be admit) that here we have staunch libs agreeing that the US is about to invade Venezuela. Unless of course, they disagree? I thought not. They'll posture and pose, never coming out and saying we're not going to invade and it's a stupid propaganda bit, but they also won't come out and say it's true. They'll hem and haw like always, trying to play it both ways. They want to suggest that it is possible, and therefore Bush is evil. Even if it doesn't happen, that still makes Bush bad because it could have happened. Fact is, it ain't true. Anybody with a brain knows it ain't true. Anybody with half a brain knows it. Only the completely clueless think it's a real possibility. You can scream all you want about Bush drinking the blood of babies or whatever the latest nonsense is, but that still doesn't make it true. I'll bookmark this thread and in three months I'll quote this post and say "See? I told ya so. Don't be an idiot."
Relax, no one here said that Bush is going to invade Venezuela. The case was made that given Bush's reputation Chavez has valid reasons to be suspicious and that pro-bush, pro Iraq occupation warmongers should not have a fit of righteous indignation if an unfriendly foreign leader is afraid of Bush. Chavez claims to have convincing documents proving his case. Who knows, maybe they are all fabrications similar to what Colin Powell used in the UN to justify the invasion of iraq, can you blame Chavez for taking them seriously?
Whatever, I stand by my assertion the he only "looks" like an idiot, If your are implying he "is" an idiot, what exactly do you think about all the people that have lost against him( democrats specifically).....even more idiotic ? I'm telling you, if you insult a person with whom you have had a confrontation with and lost, you make yourself look even worse.... That is a fact.
You first make a causal link between oneâs belief that the BBC has liberal bias, and Britain being a third-world communist country. And then when I simply said Iraqâs economy was in bad shape, you go off about Jenna Jameson and âbrown people.â These are examples of your distorted view on how American conservatives think. You also do not know what this war is about, and still believe the Jihadists (Islamists) in the Muslim world represent 1-2% of fanatical Muslim cooks living in caves. If thatâs true, bin laden would have never pulled off 9/11, there would never be a Taliban Islamist nation-state manifesting itself in Afghanistan, and Iraq today would be like Disney Land. The Jihad movement is widespread, well-financed, and widely supported in the mostly Sunni-Muslim World, including a sizable number of Iraqi civilians. As for the Iraqi body count, I would be skeptical of all think-tank reports and studies coming from the inteligencia, since it is filled with people who are against American Imperialism, Capitalism, wars in general, Iraq in particular. The Lancet study the BBC and the Washington Post reported relies on statistically insignificant data, and is dependent on family interviews. I think this site is more credible: http://www.iraqbodycount.net/database/ They have a downloadable dossier here: http://www.iraqbodycount.net/press/pr12.php
I suppose my humour is too dry for you. You don't seem to know when I'm joking and when I'm not. And my view on American Conservatives is absolutely accurate, and I largely support them; it's the accursed Neo-Conservatives who are causing all the trouble nowadays. And there is a vast difference between the two factions. Well, as always, show me some numbers to prove that it's more than a few percent. I've talked to Muslims about this, and they ALL have told me that it's a small group of extremists, who screw things up and give their religion a bad name, just like the Christians who blow up abortion clinics. If the Jihadists are, for example, 30% of 1 billion muslims worldwide or whatever, don't you think we'd have some real attacks going on, especially here, in the heart of the aggressors? How many muslims live in the States? The US government has said that there's about 30 Al Qaeda leaders, and they've supposedly killed 80-90% of them. To run a group of millions that is "widespread, well-financed, and widely supported", they need a lot more people. We seem to be short a few hundred million angry zealous psychopaths. So I'm not about to start worrying about the skinny pakistani kid on the bus listening to his iPod just yet. And the number of militant muslims would have no effect on 9-11's success of failure? That makes no sense, but "Iraq today would be like Disney Land" makes less sense still, far less than my Jenna Jameson joke. At any rate, it can easily be argued that everything happening in Iraq today is being done in self-defense. Or do you want them to pattern themselves after the right-wing's favorite insult target, France, and accept occupation passively? How would YOU respond to a hostile invasion force in your country? I've seen this as well. There's the problem with numbers in the internet age, there's a site to prove any number you want if you pick your sources to back your argument. Nobody has any idea how many civilians are dead, but I would rather err on the side of caution than the "don't worry about it, we're not harming hardly anybody" side, just because it legitimizes invading other countries without any provocation whatsoever, which is the last thing America needs to believe right now. But even your number of 25,000 dead civilians is still too many dead, especially for what was largely a secular country who did nothing to provoke this multi-year invasion... A country which we have made a "martyr nation", a cause for the extremist minority to point to when recruiting, a breeding ground for anti-Americanism, and a training ground for the world's terrorists. For every "terrorist" we've killed there, we've birthed 100 more. I cannot praise the "success" of the invasion of Iraq without noting the heavy heavy price we've paid for ... whatever it was we got out of all this in the first place. It's definitely not a clear "win" for us.
Any terrorist lobbing missiles and taking pot shots at soldiers is called a civilian over there. We have 2000 Us soldiers dead and I always heard that for every 1 of our men dead there's 10 of thiers. So 25,000 dead enemy's sounds about right. Should be much more than 25,000 of Iraqi's dead and much less of ours dead if our soldiers didn't have their hands tied behind their backs.
