Hitman: Nothing beats the truth, and that's what I have to offer. Hitman offers *his perception* of "the truth", often with many imperatives and absolutes. Regarding absolutes, from my 20-yr old grammar textbook, but oh so applicable to trading knowledge: While I don't always agree with the Hitman, I have to admire him for taking such a definitive stance on all his opinions.
this is great quote you posted. To me, ability to allow for other points of view to co-exist with no conflict, ability to reject thinking in absolute terms, realization that nothing is ALWAYS, EVER, FOREVER etc, tolerance for different ways of life mean maturity and even wisdom if you will. And this is not only about being humble and understanding that your knowledge at this particular stage has its limits. It's also about realization that no knowledge can be ultimate and absolute. I think any good trader faced this phase when he thought he got it all down, once and for all... only to get smashed next week. Dialog can be successful and constructive only when both parties actually listen to each other and allow for differencies to exist. It's pointless to try and convince someone who thinks he has monopoly for ultimate truth. Really, how do you talk to someone who takes the stance "Anyone who thinks other than I do is wrong"... Best regards, Vadym
Limbo, I am out of line in regards to what??!! Having a problem with Chris attacking someone else in the same way he complained was unfair when others did it to him? Do you not agree that this was hypocritical? That was my only point and the basis for my criticism of Chris. If you read my post(s) you will note that I in fact praised his content....I think it is very well done and useful. And the fact that Chris has been so generous with you would be completely unbeknownst to me or anyone else on this thread so it is information that is/was irrelevant to this discussion at the time I made my post(s). And finally, last I checked I was far from the only one who expressed similar sentiment so why you included me only is a little strange. PS And should the fact that you asked Chris to rejoin ET mean something to me? I never realized he left and who are you or who am I to ask anyone to leave or come back in the first place?
DAT Trader: I said commission % not profit %. People get 95 % payout at my firm once they become experienced. A small % of 5% is not worth the stress lol. Limbo: I don't think I mentioned anything other than trading in this thread. And don't get too excited, Tony did the same thing for me, even send me his books, and I totally appreciate it and value him as a true friend. Did I make a dime trading his strategies . . . No. In fact, one of my rivals at work laughed at me when I brought in Tony Oz autographed books and said he was just using me as a marketing tool as someone like me is almost guaranteed to spread the word around. Chris: Brandon stated in another thread that he will audit his record, case closed, instant respect from me and I will subscribe to his service for sure if he proves to be as good as advertised. Being humble is a quality that I have in spades, as I have never ever pretended to be someone I am not, and if you ask me how I did on any given day I will mention my mistakes first, same if you ask me about my trading style, you will hear my weaknesses first. I am not saying I am better than anyone, and of course there is always a chance that some plane crashes on my house as I am typing this message, I don't make it to 2010. All I am saying is, IF you are NOT true to yourself, barring a major disaster, I will beat you, by 2010. Everyone and their mother dodge my bullets with non-sense, and I believe every single word Pej said when he told me that he is running a hedge fund. No harm ever comes from overestimating an opponent, underestimating can be a fatal mistake. There was some guy named Moma who said he made seven digits 99-00 and high six digits in 01, and I took his word for it and immediately gave him my respect. Because if he is not who he says he is, he is not true to himself and that alone will keep him from competing with me later in the game, and giving respect to someone who has zero chance of beating you is better than underestimating someone who is playing at a much higher level than yours. So if you can stop dodging bullets like rain drops, give me a basic idea of where you are (and no, please don't say I trade 3000 share positions regularly, doesn't mean jack, so does one of my best friends at work, and I already told you what her stats are). I don't need no audited track record. Trust me, make a poll and ask people if they think chatroom vendors should publicize their trading record, you will be surprised. Dottom: When I say something I mean it, and I am not afraid to say I am wrong. If I am the type of guy who changes his mind every now and then I wouldn't have took this career path. When I am onto something I attack it with 100% ferocity, and I don't turn corners because the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. I don't write poetic stuff when I am talking about my career. I don't try to be a philosopher and avoid the simple questions "do you average $200 or $300 a day because there is a very big difference?" or "what percentage of your income actually comes from your trading?". I don't pretend that I have all the answers because I do not. I am perfectly aware of the fact that George Soros blew up and I remember the story of a 4 year veteran losing 140K in one day and ended his career at my firm. I too am an immigrant and I don't make it like a big deal because no one cares what your background is or how you get there, the question is whether you CAN make it big time or not. I believe chat rooms are garbage until the vendor publicizes his account record. The reason I decided to get my hands dirty in this mud throwing contest is very similar to say, Don Bright (albeit on a smaller scale since I am in no position to compete with him pound for pound this early in my career). What Don is doing is absolutely ingenius, controversy generates attention, attention generates publicity, publicity generates customers, customers generates revenue. By running this type of controversial comparisons, I mean, everyone in this industry would love to see a delicious "feast of the vendors", and Bright will look like a hero for "clearing things up" and "give back a little to the community". Bravo, that is what I call smart marketing, unfortunately my boss believes in "overpower other firms with raw rates" which is fine but I really thought he should take a note or two from Don with creativity. Outbidding your competitor is awesome but if you can throw a few bones and make them feel that the only reason they come here is not just because of the rates, that you are a firm "ran by traders for traders", it will wreck havoc on the competition. Until I have fully grown my wings, I can not fly with the likes of Don, so I have to get my hands dirty with some grunt work, like bash a few vendors in the head to stir things up a little bit, it is ok, time is on my side, and I do have a few cards unique to our firm in this cut throat competition. That said, thanks to all of you I learned the art of "strip tease". Ken "shares the wealth" by telling people to buy two day breakouts, I am going to tell people "I buy oil when the oil sector is going up!". Don had this incredible open journal and ever since I read it, I changed my journal format to "I made half a point on DNA" without any specific rules. You throw people a few bones and they will come for the meat and potato, why didn't I think of this before?
This is too funny, I get badgered & harrassed when I post a thread to provide quality content to ET, I wasnt looking for anything past the sharing part. I was invited to these threads by Brandon who is familair with this stuff.........I go a flurry of lefts & rights & I had to step back & understand what was going on.......When I arrived on ET, i wasnt familiar with the head games that are played by others......so I am past it...I am a big boy & no biggie......... I did in fact close the thread that I wish would have continued but who cares at this point, I became critical of others work as they have of mine & know what ? I am sorry for it.....We all have become critical of each other & it should end........... BUT......... You went after me in defense for your partner Ken that you did seminar(s) together as you admitted it a few days ago, so lets call it what it is, if you had no liking for Ken, you would have said nothing, BUT because you made $ profits with him doing work togther as co partners in a seminar & whatever else you felt it was your right to stand up for him, thats fine & I would do the same for anybody I worked with closely.......Ken is a big boy, he doesnt need you to help him.......so lets leave a dead dog where it is, I have nothing futher to say negetive to him or anybody else,.........I would rather we stop the bashing & keep it positive & lets get past the non constructive posts.......
On the contrary Hit i'm quite excited----Tony did a loud sweet hit and run with you-period-please don't compare it with my relationship with Chris. Yeah- you're right on Don Bright---managed to place himself in a great position here--if it was me I wouldn't play into his hands. Lastly if you read my post -regarding love life--I said in your journals....... Dattrader got to run-I'll reply to you later.
Hitman you have nothing of substance to say at all toward me as you know nothing about me, & neither does anybody else for that matter exepct for my accountant & my tax atty,.......you know nothing about my trading, my chatroom or anything about me personal & you therefore are swinging in the dark......stop shadow boxing, its useless. Hitman............I would love for you to make 100x what I make in less than 10 yrs, Nobody cares what you make. your showing your immaturity by just claiming you will out trade me by 2010 Who cares what you make or I make, if you want out trade me, do it tomorrrow, do it in 2002, I dont care, I could care less who makes what I never look in anybody elses pockets & I would never let anybody look in mine. Leave it alone already, you make 75000 big deal , go make 750 k next yr & live in nyc & enjoy life...I wish you become an example to others not a failure .....I gave up that I will beat your income game in my mid 20's........trust me, you & I have nothing in common, personally or business wise, I am the wrong person to compete against as I dont need to play that game, find somebody in your office thats trading 200-300 or 500 shares & compete against them, it will be more satisfying for you than to look at me as your target You think I have a conflict with you, no I dont want one with anybody, I rather we all contribute to the boards with useful information than bashing & ranting & raving over nonsense.......relax & enjoy life, have a cigar or something........... I have no confict & if you want to continue to argue, do it with somebody that will give you a good fight, I rather not play your game of tit for tat I am this & you are that.......get over it alread...........Chartwiz
***you know nothing about my chatroom*** I do know Linda is on board and that is a nice tree to duck under when it rains and pours. ***Nobody cares what you make*** Now that I am running a team, they do care and I am not afraid to show them, regardless of whether 2002 is the breakout year or the blow-up year. I think if you run a chat room they will care too, unless you want to hide in someone else's shadow forever. ***your showing your immaturity by just claiming you will out trade me by 2010*** If I am still in this game by then, and if you are NOT true to yourself. Trading is a contact sport, you don't want other people to trade your stocks, you don't want other people to trade your strategy, UNLESS it benefits you in some way or form. Yes, the market is big enough for all of us, but in the end there are tiers and to be the man you have beat the man. ***Find somebody in your office thats trading 200-300 or 500 shares & compete against them, it will be more satisfying for you than to look at me as your target*** Here we go again, my size is bigger than yours syndrome, I am in a position to trade as big as I want to, but my skill does not allow it yet, once I do, I don't see why shouldn't you be a target. And no one trading 500 shares can touch me, for because once they have the skill to beat me they won't be trading 500 shares anymore. ***have a cigar or something........... *** I don't smoke because it is bad karma to get smoked. ***do it with somebody that will give you a good fight*** It is called giving you a taste of your own medicine, as you picked a fight with several members who had no interest to give you a good one.
Limbo: ***On the contrary Hit i'm quite excited----*** Let me guess, he offered you a free, extended trial to his chat room. Well once upon a time I had a mentor who offered me the same thing, and did I make a dime off it, no . . . That said I will never say a bad word about him for it was he who introduced me to technical analysis, before him the only cup and handle I knew was the one I have for morning coffee. So yes, he made a serious impact on me, and even tho I no longer trade anything remotely similar to the way he trades, he will always be considered my mentor and the one who helped me to make that most important first step. I believe you know quite a bit more about trading that I did at the time, so don't get too hyped up, remember love is blind and it is easy to be in denial As whether Tony did a hit and run on me, well, all I can say is we both got what we wanted
Ok, let's try and establish constructive dialog. First of all, let's refrain from words like "crap" etc. What doesn't match your perception is not necessary wrong. If you see something questionable from your point of view why don't you question it or state your disagreement in respectful manner instead of labeling it as crap? Now let me show you different angle. When I was traidng for myself exclusively I did know my averages to dollar, and much more than that. For instance I had the daily chart of my trading equity superimposed on COMPX chart so I could see if my trading strategy works universally or it's just bullish market that makes me money. I also knew my win/loss ratio and points(fraction size of average winner and loser so I could judge the style itself, i.e, if I scalp solely (and how it impacts the result), if I let my winners run, if I cut losers effectively enough etc. I monitored trading activity separately in order to see if I react on losing day with desire to get revenge or with moderation. Etc etc. Now, when I have a room to run, pure trading statistics moved out of major focus. As you state (absolutely correctly) it's impossible to give the trading full focus doing real time comments in the room at the same time. So my trading became even more scalping bound, and it has became somewhat sporadic. I take clear opportunities when they just jump on me. I avoid getting in the trade that might require 10-15 min of full attention because I cannot ignore member questions and cannot leave intense trade unattended. Sometimes I do take slow trade and comment on it in the room but this is rather exception. Having plenty of matters to deal with I don't do anymore as thorough statistics as I used to, and they are not of such importance for me now. Also, it's not as simple as just take the account figures and divide them by amount of days. There are days when I don't trade for different reasons: administrative stuff, too much of room dialogs etc. Apparently I should not include those days in trading time to calculate averages. And I don't keep records of this, I just need this time for other matters. Of course I could drop everything and calculate averages to dollar, but what for? I do know approximate average, quite enough for me where I stand now. The only point I am trying to make: there ARE different angles, people come from diffrent ways... I invite you not to consider your point of view to be the ultimate truth. You also said about being an immigrant too and not making big deal out of it. Neither do I make anything out of it, don't read in my words what wasn't there. I just showed where I came from with decision to start the service. Now, if you accept the dialog without attacks and presumptions, that would be great example for all the fighters. Best regards, Vadym
