THere is no possible way to structure this contest on an apples to apples basis. Another flaw is the exit of the trade. Who is to decide when to cut losses and take profits? Don? On a discretionary trade by trade basis? No way it will work fairly IMO.
I understand about the "closing" of trades, and I think that I qualify to find pretty good prices, but if these signals work, all we need to see is profits or to see if we are "stopped out"... This test will work fine for a basic review, and that's all were trying to do. I'll post up the results next month, and we can all see.
Don......... From what I understand , the trades from the chatrooms will NOT be included.... I will give picks after close for next day with entry & exit points & targets & then manage them on a day to day basis, this is what I gather......... I will not post any of my trade ideas from my service as this is a paid service & a seperate issue. If the ideas are supposed to be from my chatroom service, count me out. If deas are based on overnight or swing trades that are seperate & apart from it, count me in I do provide swing trades in my chatroom all the time BUT I will give seperate picks than I would for my paid service, onlly fair to my members. I find ideas each night & Will post my entries & stops & targets.......but are we limited to the stocks we call ?? I could find 10 in 1 night & 2 for 2-3 days & 20 another day & of them I will have winners & losers but its the bottom line profit & loss......... If we base it on that , how will we keep track & apples to apples........I may have 50 calls....brandon may have 20 Ken will have maybe 80, vadym or somebody will have 10..........how will you keep this fair & even playing field....or will you keep it open the amount of trades you have at one time... .you need to give us all rules for trading these ideas before we all begin.......I am looking forward this game & feel we could all learn from each other & grow .............. Another thing......whats the benefit to all of us.....the top picker ? what does he gain from this ????? Chris
I am not "posting" anyones picks...I want them on private email and I will actually trade them. I will post the results after a period of time. Simple picks and stops is all I need....If you have preferred exit points, include them as well.
Since the cutoff time is near (Jan 7th), let me clear this up a bit. I only want "services" not individual picks (I am not going to let this turn into a "pump and dump" for everyone's long positions. I will be as fair and open as possible...here is the plan. 1. Send stock buys/shorts to me via private email to "dontest@stocktrading.com" as early as you can prior to the opening. 1 hour would be nice. 2. Include stop loss, reversals, GTC, and whatever specific data (like exit price suggestions). 3. I will place the trades and keep a spreadsheet on results ( I will absorb all financial risk regardless of outcome). 4. I will transmit results, when finished to the vendor for comments prior to posting anywhere else. Again, the purpose is to simply see who is doing well, real time, real money. I can't get "suggestions" or "if xxxx, then yyyy" type of trading ideas...only specifics. This should be fun!!
Yes, seems like it would be difficult to get an accurate gauge of realtime performance based on the premarket only type of setups that we want to look at here... Excellent points Tony as usual.. you're right re newsletter vs realtime types of comparisons... agree also it probably wouldn't prove a lot, hard to get consensus on guidelines, logistics, realism of fills and other issues. good points re apples-to-apples comparisons too...and exits as well, agree dattrader.. I have a bright idea (no pun intended): let's put this on hold til after we can develop some better guidelines on how it would be managed. Don has an excellent idea, I'd like to see a head to head competition some time, again we need to look at other things too that the rooms attempt to accomplish, eg I'm happy with the results of my realtime calls and performance, but I'm much more interested in seeing that all of the teaching that I post gets learned by folks, and that they learn how to trade, vs just following calls. As one of my traders suggested, it might be more valid to have different rooms' students face off against each other. That will be the test of what they actually learned, right? I like that idea too. Hmm... it seems the only way to do some kind of trading competition like this would be for swing trades only, and then we're not getting a feel for the performance of each of our Daytrading abilities, which is what we're after. Hey I'll mention that to Tim B, you folks too, if you'd like to see some head to head live trading competition at an upcoming expo (calif), that would be fun. That would be interesting to me, to watch, say different 'matches' of traders against each other, then a recap of what/why they did what they did, say 30 minutes of trading, then 30 minutes of explaining "what the trader saw that made him put on that trade"...vs a bunch of lectures, just my .02, ideas? Taking a close look at the most recent 1 month's transcripts from each room would be a great current indicator that would be helpful. They're timestamped, and you could compare a) reliability of trading calls, exits, risk mgmt, stops etc and b) educational training content, trader support etc .. from room to room.... I posted my Dec transcripts, everyone else care to do the same? ok all, I'm off to take a weekend w/wife/baby down the street at hilton hawaiian village, I need a break... fun to play tourist now and then. Ken
Don, Are you going to put on Chartwiz's 80 sure winners every day? Plus another 25 or so from others? You will have to open another office to keep track of it all. Do you intend to crown a winner or is the end result going to be more along the lines of your impressions of each?
AAAbeltway............you should get involved....oh I am sorry you probably could manage maybe 1 trade at a time lets nice to each other, you could do that right ? its going to be alot of work on all of our parts & we should support & not knock one another AAA so lets be on the same team ..........all of us !
I am keeping it simple...and only those who want to show off their results should participate. Ken...no need for caveats or turning this into a tactical nightmare. Just simple picks, simple trades, simple p & L. Everyone: Please keep this in the vein that I am intending...I am spending a lot of time and effort on this (and probably $$ as well.. (hopefully not $$)....Let's just see if the "rubber hits the road" ...this is more of a "street drag race" not a Nascar race where all aspects are subject to scrutiny. I am going to enter trades, like anyone subscribing to any service/room would intend to do, and put in the stops and try to make some money. Let's put it this way...if I can't show some profits, does anyone else really have a chance (not that I am so smart or good, but I do have all the tools and a few years experience). So, Jan 7th...(preferably before) let's have some trades. Those that do well will have an ally (for whatever that may be worth), and those that don't won't have to worry too much about it... (those that "chicken out" though....boo! boo!).. Only kidding....let's see what happens...
