Will - I thought you were using an AIM link no? Do you know that if everyone gets an AIM account we can use a free chat via AIM. Its super easy... Just a suggestion since that's the only other thing I can get on from work
Really? If it was such a great revenue source do you think Baron would stop it? Obviously chat is costing him time & money and not paying off. your not very logical for a successful trader
You worship Baron cult, huh? I respect Baron and his efforts in creating in supporting ET, but everyone makes mistakes and putting chat down is apparently one of them. Not every mistake consequences are obvious right from the start. But loss of loyal users, some of which ran journals which had 100K+ views (equal to 100K+ banner views, by the way too, cause there is a banner on every ET page) is surely something... Hardware resources are dirt cheap these days, and surely supporting chat is not much of an issue from financial or administrative point of view. P. S. And I care less what you or anybody else except few really good traders I know and respect think of my trading...
zzz, Hog, come to the new room when you see this.. http://chat.aim.com/chats/small-business/ex-et-gambling-den
here's how you can quantify the loss of the ET Chat. I've only been here for a few days (under 3 weeks) and came here to meet traders as well as learn how traders are using my firm's products. Chat was a natural progression - I simply saw it and logged on. I was able to recognize people by their screen names/handles and search their posts, etc. I know that there are hundreds (if not more) chat groups out there on AIM, Skype, and others but without knowing the individuals how would you know where to go? You would need an invite... The chat function served as an excellent gateway into legitimate day-trading and even if some more Sr. members eventually find their own group and peel off, it still gave newcomers a nice entry into understanding how a day-trading community works. now you have a forum/message board. There will be no way for a new member to get together with others without an invite and there will be no cross-selling/education of securities and strategies which is very unfortunate. Just my $0.02... PS - I'm not nearly as profitable either...
