Always better to incur successful results like this in a 1 month investment than the two to three months window suggested on Aug 1, 2013.
This was not a pair trade. This was a pair INVESTMENT.
Please read below if you prefer the comfort of Investment to the requirement of more closely watched trading.

This is an example of a pair INVESTMENT, with expected, sucessful results in a 2 to 3 months window. Success occurred here in one month.

For the last 13 months I have posted pair trade advisories for intended short term, successful results on this thread (since Aug 1, 2012) which has occurred with consistency. I have not posted until now (the Aug 1 quoted post) an intermediate or long term pair INVESTMENTproposal.

It is highly important to make aware to would-be investors that are not poised to be short term traders due to other life commitments that there is a HUGE world of opportunity to SWING INVEST pair INVESTMENTS with the same SAFETY and High level of successful results to total positions put on as I have illustrated to be the case in my numerous posts on this thread for short term trades. This will take investors out of their small box of investing in safe CD's, short term bonds, not to mention more sizable risk positions in stocks or stock and bond mutual funds. And how timely. Read the wisdom of some highly respected economists of investment houses just posted to CNBC web site in light of Bernanke's decision to keep QE going and closing in on the end stage of rising stocks, not to mention bubble territory considering their rise in the 4 years.

This pair INVESTMENTs opportunity genearlly allows market direction to be irrelevent, providing comfortable, occasional oversight of a position, rather than the more important day-to-day monitoring of a pair trade.

I hope this is a start to many more examples at this thread for INVESTMENT pairs .

    Pair Investments:
    *** Occasional monitoring only
*** Relative safety compared to other stock/bond investments
*** Added SAFETY (now we are talking in total, a LOT of relative SAFETY) by keeping positions small in return for added capability to have more, rather than less, positions on.
    *** Market direction indifferent
*** Expectations of consistently higher ratio of successful closed positions than overall positions put on
*** Very, very short learning curve.

The only criticism I hear about Pairs, is that even though there is consistently high numbers of successful results for the number of positions put on relative to other market participation, the returns are modest compared to the potential for other market involvement. This from my experience is true. I am personally biased to my approach to Pairs that I believe involves more SAFETY and more frequent gains. Anyway, we are not talking drag racing with frequent attendant risks for losing; we are talking long term cruising with seat belts on and better mileage consistency while enjoying our touring, looking out the window with no comparison to others' stressful ride. My guess is this description fits American investors' objectives in numbers that dwarf other investors' who aim for loftier, short term gains while willing to take sizably more risk. Where are you ? Think first to "Know thine self" for the betterent of you (and possibly family).

The risk/reward for allowing this to go longer is questionable. Longer duration could realize an even more favorable movement in closing the distance of the plots, but that would be offset by additional time, depending on the rate of closing.
