Damir, There is an excellent free Linux graphical front-end for IB called AutoTrader. Here's the home page; go to "ScreenShots" and scroll down to the bottom to see if it looks interesting. You can click on the image itself to expand it. http://autotrader1.home.comcast.net/ Regards.
eSignal for data feed only (though its addition of JavaScript for custom apps is slowly tipping the scale into making it a one-stop solution for charting, too). Investor/RT for charting and research today. IB for trading platform. NinjaTrader as its front-end. Second and third trading platforms funded, only for backup. Separate charting and trading computers running XP Pro, each can double for the other if necessary. Nexland (now Symantec) auto-failover, load-balancing dual-WAN router to my firewalled LAN, fed by DSL and Cable (and thus 2 independent physical circuits into my home, 2 different ISP's, 2 separate connections from them to the Internet backbone). Land line phone with IB set on speed-dial; cell phone as backup. No complaints.
AutoTrader is a good little app, but i already roll my own custom stuff (i'm fullly automated). those not needing that level of control should definetely check out AutoTrader.
Very cool. BTW, even those who want to dabble with automation to see if it suits them would be served well by AutoTrader initially. It added a sockets interface (http) recently so that a home-grown app can write to it in a standardized format and initiate trades. No need to learn the TWS API. Cheers.
rgelite: now that i didn't know, thanks! IB's format is a bit of a pain in the ass, having a consistent intermediary would definetely have made life easier.
Neoticker is the bomb. I have had them all at one time or the other, real tick, qcharts, ensign, fibonacci trader, tradestation, esignal, erlangerquote. Neoticker is the best by far. I use it with Esignal. If interested in an easy system to use then get tradestation. If you don't want any limitations and are willing to learn get Neoticker. John
Neoticker RT is great! Its the best charting software that I have ever used. It takes a while to get used to it, but well worth it.
I use graph, differnt scales for 30 minute, daily, weekly. I use 0 price scales on daily and weekly. I overlay 30 minute bar with line chart. in addition I use 6 diffent colored pencils on 30 minute charts, 2 differnt colors for daily. You can print your on graph scales with a free software at: http://www.ctech.ac.za/facul/eng/ee/human/pcbhome/GraphPaper.html I use IB for quotes, in addition, to the trading platform for speed and reliability. I hope this helps
