To be a Libertarian seems scary. Seems like there is no safety net. The current safety net is very expensive and it is used to much that it skews individual incentives.
Libertarians believe if resources are kept in the hands of the people the natural state of survival will keep us whole. People on their own in the private sector will provide the safety net. Right now the Government takes about 25% of the total production. Cut that to 5% and the private sector will have the means to take care of the weakest.
Trust the people, the individual. Free people are good people.

  2. No. This is the government forcing you with a gun to redistribute your income. That is LESS freedom in my book.

  3. If Obama wanted to, he could try to relinquish all responsibilty of the poor to pay Federal & Payroll taxes, by starting discussions on implementing the FairTax. Not to mention the fact that it would give all of us a substantial amount of freedom from the taxmasters. Will he do this? Never, because taxes are about control and neither party is willing to lose that.

Anybody think Obama really cares about your healthcare? Fuggetaboutit. This is about power & control over the citizens. Don't be fooled.

  4. Mercor, the private health insurance is about ratio of money they pay, to money they charge. By that nature it change health care from for good health, to for profit. Nothing is wrong with profit, but it creates the conflict of interest sometimes, and the choice becomes for profit over people. This is not a product for sale to play with, it is people.
I understand choice for people to choose health care. If the public option gives a competition to private health care, that would force private health care to compete, make a better price for their service, and win the customer.
If libertarian is about freedom to choose, then why private insurance does not pay for alternative medicine, but go with a mainstream medicine? Randomized control trial is like a average of the best outcome from a (group). So that is what is approved for medicine from that trial. That is not a choice as individual, but what works best as a whole.(safe)

  5. Correctamundo! Obama is a pathological narcissist. He doesn't care about anything except being "the big cheese"... likely promoted into this position by "the man behind the curtain"... and naive American voters have no clue.

  6. It would FORCE competition out of the market and leave many with no choice!

  7. This is exactly what the Slicksters want you to think. What happens next is the gov't option runs at a loss, long enough to put the private healthcare option out of business, and whadya know...........only the gov't shitty option is left.

And once again less freedom for all of us.

I find it hilarious that you would put up the Libertarian Party as true libertarians.

What you guys are is anarchists. Your Open Border policy, which you took down after 9/11, proves it. There is no such thing as a nation without borders but that's exactly what the LP openly advocated right up to 9/11.

That is anarchy, not libertarianism. No wonder your party goes nowhere election after election. :D

  9. Ahh...you're using the term Liberal in the classical sense. As in the Jeffersonian Liberal...a definition which I prefer.

Had we all known and acknowledged and used the correct use of the term Liberal this country it would be much different and it would much better off today.

    Good post RM
