For me, marketable orders weren't executed leaving me with an overnight position and loss. Margins still are lower for large cap US CFDs but I don't want it to be a lottery when it comes to execution. But I'm going to have to give it another go as the margin requirements for underlyings keep creeping higher.
This is old thread, but i will share the latest info regarding Interactive-Brokers (In-Bro) CFD, you can trade CFD of Forex, Stocks with In-Bro when your account less than $2000 you can not trade forex, but you can trade forex cfd the chart is identical, fee as well. with less than $2000 you can not trade stocks but you can trade stocks cfd and gold as well (XAUUSD commodity) but you need to get latest TWS to be able to trade CFD, using old TWS will not show any CFD contracts/symbols. Right now (Sept-2017) i'm using TWS Build 963.3g, May 30, 2017. hope that helps
I say BS to that. You can configure to your tastes. I think people spend more time buying a fridge than they do studying the tools they use to trade.
UPDATE: CFDs did not work out for me, auction orders for example are a complete lottery. Liquid equities, marketable orders are often not executed. On top of that, there is no way to estimate executions, which means they're practically unusable.
@Brianharvey - hope you are well, I am in the same position and looking at either Colmex Pro or IB for day trading CFDs, can I ask how was your experience with Colmex as I see plenty of less than desirable reviews but really like their platform (I use the Tradenet TEFS at present). I downloaded the IB TWS and it seemed a bit clunky. Any help/insight would be much appreciated.
Can I ask what specifically you mean by "auction orders for example are a complete lottery." Did market-on-close orders not get filled? If that is the case, that is quite serious.
